ORIGINAL: SoftBonds Um, Heretic, I ignored your last post about Sarah Palin, but trust me, you don't want to mention her again. I'm from Alaska, I know her skeletons, and if you don't want to find out why her own party leadership hates her, just don't go there. It isn't about corruption, or at least, not about her exposing corruption... You brought her up, Softbonds, not I. Now maybe you are an old drinking buddy of the Morlocks or Johnstons or something, but pretty much every sleazy story that won't get the seller and teller sued for slander has been sold and told. What I'm curious about is how many people are familiar with the story at all. I know Lucy is, but I suspect that's because she had the sense to Google, before accusing me of repeating a Faux News lie when I started mentioning it. Nah, I just met her once, before she thought about running for mayor... Met Bill Allen too, but that's another story. Hmm, where to next. So as an up and coming politico, she earns some interest from the old boys network, and gets one of the cushier jobs in the Govenment, in charge of the Oil and Gas commission. Now I know most of you gentle readers are not from Alaska, so I will give some political/geography info. Most state jobs are in the capital, Jeneau. But the job Palin got was in Anchorage, getting paid 6 figures for going to one meeting a month. Did Palin enjoy it? No, she hated it, complained all the time about how she had to drive for up to 2 hours to get to Anchorage for the meetings. Once a month, for a lousy 6 figure salary... Fortunatly, there was a way out. She had gotten along well with the corrupt folks in the party, but her job was supposed to be an oversight job, so she decided to actually do her job, at least, long enough to get out of her job... So, a bit of investigating to find out what she already knew, get someone fired, then "resign in protest." Handy how it got her out of the job she hated while setting her up for future politicing. Now at the time she became an ally of Andree McLeod, a staunch anti-government Republican activist. Now, if you wanted to get into it with the State or Federal Government in Alaska, Andree was the person to have in your corner. She was happy to help out Sarah and give the newcomer a leg up and tips on how to dig and expose dirt. Now, without giving away the story, how do you think Andree, a real Republican, small government, anti-corruption hero, regards Palin now?
