Apparently a lot of women who were switched from the brand Ortho-Lo to generic Sprintec have side effects they didn't have with the brand medication: http://ehealthforum.com/health/ortho-tri-cyclen-lo-generic-t201878-a1.html

I don't intend to go into too many details here in P&R, but I have a condition for which I have used three different forms of progesterone - Methylprogesterone (synthetic), Utrogestan (generic) and Prometrium (brand) and the Prometrium is the most effective with the least side effects.

As I learned from my friend, a chemist who makes generics, The FDA's use of the word "identical" is very much a legal interpretation, and is not literal.

I only said it was hypotical of the left to go all crazy when Rush called someone a slut but say absolutly nothing when Bill Maher uses the C word.

We're not going crazy because anyone called anyone a slut. We're pissed off and using our numbers to influence advertisers and radio stations to drop the gasbag because he spent 3 days demeaning and attacking this young woman for absolutely no reason and because he did it in a disgustingly sexual manner which any rational person could see could easily be applied to our sisters/wives/daughters/mothers and we simply won't put up with that.

I hope that clears things up for you.

You can hope all you want Ken...I wouldn't suggest you hold your breath though [8|]

When does Maher apologize to Sarah Palin for calling her the ' C ' word. ??

This doesn't happen often, but I have to second servant. Maher is adept enough to have made his point without trash talk that seems to insult not just Sarah Palin but all women.

tazzygirl -> RE: The latest Talking Point to excuse Rush "Chickenhawk"* Limbaugh (3/6/2012 6:48:54 PM)

For me, and I am only one woman.. it wasnt what he said.. it was his target to whom he said it.

Had he said it to a female politician, I would have shrugged and moved on.

As far as the attacks on their children, I am always the loudest to complain, no matter what side of the isle they sit upon.

erieangel -> RE: The latest Talking Point to excuse Rush "Chickenhawk"* Limbaugh (3/6/2012 6:55:13 PM)

As a liberal, I found it reprehensible when Maher called Palin the "c-word". However, he doesn't have the long list of vile, disgusting name calling, bullying and personal attacks under his belt like Limbaugh has.

Limbaugh was still in Pittsburgh when he attacked Amy Carter...for her looks!!

Limbaugh attacked Micheal J. Fox after he testified in favor of stem cell research, claimed Fox was faking his symptoms.

Limbaugh has called Pelosi, Mrs. Clinton and every other woman in power with whom he disagreed vile names. Limbaugh also attacked Chelsea Clinton on none other than... Her looks!! Chelsea was just a child when Limbaugh compared her to the White House Dog.

Limbaugh has not apologized for most of these attacks. And the few times he has, he took no responsibility and offered tepid non-apology apologies.

The difference between Rush Limbaugh and Bill Maher

What is the difference between Rush Limbaugh calling Sandra Fluke a slut and a prostitute and Bill Maher calling Sarah Palin a twat and a cunt?

I don't think that there is an answer that makes Bill any less guilty than Rush of using verbal abuse to bully a woman into silence and submission to keep her from having a voice in how we govern this country.

While I don't that there is enough difference between Rush calling Sandra a slut and a prostitute and Bill calling Sarah a twat and a cunt that gives Bill the higher ground over Rush, there is an important difference between Sandra and Sarah worth mentioning.

Sandra is a student who was asking for an opportunity to speak for her fellow students about their personal needs. She did not attack anyone. She did not fight with anyone. She only voiced her needs and the needs of others like her.

Sarah is a powerful political and cultural figure who used verbal abuse to bully her way to power, fame and wealth. She pursued the most powerful position in the history of humanity by beating up and stepping on anyone and everyone in her way or that she could use to make her way. Sarah "Barracuda" Palin is a political predator.

When Rush called Sandra a slut and a prostitute he was bullying an powerless innocent.

When Bill called Sarah a twat and a cunt he was bullying a powerful bully.

But that doesn't make what Bill did any better than what Rush did. Both Rush and Bill have considerable political power in this country (without even the tiniest amount of responsibility) and they use their power to affect the lives of hundreds of millions of people in this country and billions of people in the world.

[sm=agree.gif]

In addition:

Personally, I'm not in favor of men using these types of words as a way to discredit the opinions of women.

I hate Sarah Palin. But then attack her for her political views and opinions. Calling her a derogatory name of this type doesn't tell me anything about whether she has good ideas or not. But it does create an environment of intimidation towards women who try to enter the political arena - whether as a student who is testifying or as a politician who is running for office. These are all political acts. And discrediting women by using these types of terms (slut, twat, cunt) is just wrong.

Maher is just as wrong as Limbaugh. Again, I really detest Sarah Palin. Not because she might be any of the things that she has been called. But because I don't believe in her ideology and she is not very smart. One doesn't need to use any of the derogatory terms to make that clear.

"Rush Limbaugh Advertisers Keep Leaving Show In Wake Of Sandra Fluke Comments"

The steady stream of advertisers fleeing Rush Limbaugh's radio show continued on Monday and Tuesday, as a barrage of new companies announced they would no longer run commercials on the program in the wake of Limbaugh's offensive comments about Sandra Fluke.

On Tuesday, Think Progress listed five additional companies who have vacated the show: AccuQuote, ServiceMagic, Polycom, Hadeed Carpet and Thompson Creek Windows.

The businesses join many others (including AOL, parent company of The Huffington Post) in ending their association with Limbaugh's show. Two radio stations have also dropped the program in the wake of Limbaugh's comments about Fluke.

UPDATE: On Tuesday afternoon, ThinkProgress listed nine other companies that have pulled out from Limbaugh's show, or moved to make sure that their ads do not air during the program. Those companies are stamps.com, Deere & Co., Geico, St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Connecticut, Bethesda Sedation Dentistry, Cascades Dental, Allstate, Sears and men's retailer Bonobos.

According to Rush, all these exoduses don't matter. He claims he can easily replace the advertisers because he keeps turning advertisers away.

SilverBoat -> RE: The latest Talking Point to excuse Rush "Chickenhawk"* Limbaugh (3/6/2012 8:38:42 PM)

I don't hate Palin, or anybody else for that matter. I rarely use the word these days, unless I really mean its real definition: an extreme aversion, animosity, etc, perhaps bordering or beyond irrational. Reasoned dislike or disapproval is another matter entirely. I'd recommend that other people learn to make the same distinction.

Palin, as revealed by her public persona and actions she tried to hide, would only fail the DSM criteria for sociopathological lying because she turned millions in personal profits from twisted lies and attacks on other people, and she sees that as having positive effects on her life. The same goes for Limbaugh. He really doesn't give a damn what happens to anybody else, his only criteria is what forwards his profits and agenda.

Limburg will weasel just as much as he figures is needed to keep himself raking in angry old white bigots' money.

In an email release today, GEICO said, “In 2004 when Rush Limbaugh’s program also carried remarks that were inappropriate, we ceased all advertising on his show. We don’t advertise there to this day.

As is, unfortunately, the case with AP-style reporting, the "attention-grabber" is at the top and the real facts are a little further down (buried, sometimes).

As a Geico customer since 2000, I seemed to remember them dropping their support of Limbaugh back in the mid 2000s and I was right. Ooooops! No spin, there.

If you go to
this ThinkProgress.org page and click on the part of the link that lists "Geico" as part of the list, you'll see what I have quoted above.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

ETA: As I read through some of the advertisers' statements about this latest incident, a few of them used the word "suspend" or words: "Step back for a while". It would be interesting to note if, a year from now, Rush is still on top and these advertisers wish to return, will he let them?

Entertainment has always been a cut-throat business and politics is certainly no different but, I wonder if loyalty means anything to anyone, anymore. I also wonder if Rush will have the personal integrity (If my above scenario transpires) to say to these advertisers: "Sorry. You weren't with me, when I needed your support, my listeners will be hearing about the benefits of your competition."

kalikshama -> RE: The latest Talking Point to excuse Rush "Chickenhawk"* Limbaugh (3/7/2012 5:30:14 AM)

38 advertisers have dropped Rush so far.

While GEICO did drop Rush in 2004, they've faced an ongoing problem with affiliates running ads and are now taking a firmer stance against this.

Rush Limbaugh Advertisers Keep Leaving Show In Wake Of Sandra Fluke Comments

Geico issued a very strong statement on Tuesday, emphasizing that it has repeatedly instructed partners not to run its ads during Limbaugh's program. It threatened to completely withdraw from the radio network unless its ads are removed from the show. The statement via the company's Facebook page:

In 2004, GEICO instructed our affiliates not to run our ads during Rush Limbaugh’s program. This week an ad was placed incorrectly on the show.

We do not place ads on Rush’s program. We do not sponsor the show. We have repeatedly alerted our partners that our ads are never to run during his program. If this does not change rest assured that we will remove all advertising from this radio network.

You can't be serious here. 'Loyalty'? Please. This concerning a man (to be quite generous in that designation) who's never displayed any loyalty to either any of four wives or to anything resembling the truth on any matter.

Yeah. Other people don't show loyalty. Why should we? Fuck 'em, right where they take their soup! Are you kidding me ?

I was posing questions but I see that, again, only certain opinions or thoughts are "allowed". How forward-thinking of you.

OK, I guess I can entertain the 'musings' aspect of it, but couldn't you pick a better example?

Please.

And where in any of that, in any of my response, would it possibly be gleaned from a sentient being that "they don't show any loyalty, why should I?" or "they won't so I won't" as my take on either what Rush said or what you said in any way shape or form?

Damn, dude.

Have some coffee, decaff, please.

"Musings" about any standard conception of loyalty or integrity being even remotely connected to the disaster known as R. Limbaugh is not far away from musings about how good a 'gator can kiss. Either scenario, normal people don't want to go there.

I stated very plainly and demonstrably that the person in question had no sense of loyalty and never did. The "so why should anybody else?" is your bizarre attachment to that, and yours alone.

You might need to change meds or something.
