http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2012/03/for-your-consideration-the-limbaugh-law-116990.html The American Forces Network is coming under increased pressure to stop carrying Rush Limbaugh’s radio show. On Monday, a group of female veterans called on the Armed Forces Network to drop the show, and yesterday Senate Armed Services Committee chairman Carl Levin said he would "love to see them drop it," but added that he probably wouldn't push through legislation. Nevertheless, Rep. Timothy Ryan (D-OH17) yesterday introduced to congress H.R. 4189, which proposes the following: To require the Secretary of Defense to provide an annual certification that all programming on the American Forces Radio and Television Service represents the best-faith efforts by the Department of Defense to provide programming for members of the Armed Forces and their families that communicates the policies, priorities, programs, goals, and initiatives of the Department while avoiding airing programming that exhibits values contrary to the values of the Armed Forces and the United States. Sponsor: Rep. Timothy Ryan [D-OH17] Status: This bill is in the first step in the legislative process. Explanation: Introduced bills and resolutions first go to committees that deliberate, investigate, and revise them before they go to general debate. The majority of bills and resolutions never make it out of committee. [Last Updated: Mar 9, 2012 12:16PM]
