Nevertheless, Rep. Timothy Ryan (D-OH17) yesterday introduced to congress H.R. 4189, which proposes the following:

To require the Secretary of Defense to provide an annual certification that all programming on the American Forces Radio and Television Service represents the best-faith efforts by the Department of Defense to provide programming for members of the Armed Forces and their families that communicates the policies, priorities, programs, goals, and initiatives of the Department while avoiding airing programming that exhibits values contrary to the values of the Armed Forces and the United States.

The Republicans - Smaller Government

Let's take the decision making process away from the Secretary Of Defense, BEFORE HE USES IT.

The Republicans - Less Regulation / Smaller government.

Actually, contrary to popular belief (and no, I'm not going to look up the stats for you, you're an adult and know how to do that quite easily), historically, when the Democrats are in power, govt spending is actually less (with the current exception) than when Republicans are in power.

And while I'm a Republican, I couldn't care less about the actuality of it because what is more true than the above is, it makes no difference.

If they tax you more, there will be more govt. programs, meaning, more jobs, meaning, more money is getting into the economy, ergo....I make more money.

If they tax you less, I have more in my pocket, fewer people are working, ergo prices are slightly lower ergo....I make more money.

In the short term, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference who's in power, and in the long term, the only thing that matters is what they do....not whose team they're on.

Without getting in the big middle of this, i have one statement. If you wish to circulate a petition to try and get Clear Channel to drop Rush limbaugh, that's your right. BUT if you do so and do NOT also circulate a petition to have HBO fire Bill Mahr, for saying far worse things about Sarah Palin, and other conservative women (and Hillary Clinton for that matter) then you aren't doing so out of any sense of righteous indignation or opposition to sexism, but simple crass leftist hypocracy!

Fact: He shouldn't have said it, but Rush DID apologize, Bill Mahr never has.

Fact: the woman in question is a 30 year old longtime activist for pro-abortion rights groups, and was very likely 'planted' at Catholic Georgetown University to create this very shitstorm. As to whether she's a "slut" I have no knowledge, but I have NO doubt that somebody has been supporting her, probably paying her a stipend to attend classes waiting for the right time and a chance to "fuck" Georgetown University, and while it may not be in the literal sense that WOULD make her a 'prostitute'.

Fact: There are SEVERAL leftist pundits that are evry BIT as guilty as Mahr and Limbaugh, and no one has screamed for them to be fired. So why don't you drop all the pretense of the whole righteous indignation, it doesn't really suit you!

That is your opinion, you are entitled to it.

A fact you missed...

Palin is a public figure...

Fluke is not.....

People are entitled to their opinions on this subject. Businesses are entitled to put their advertising dollars where they want. People are entitled to complain to those businesses about where they advertise.

This whole issue is about freedom of speech. He certainly has the right to say what he wants. But along with that freedom comes responsibility for the words he spoke. Replace those with a racial slur? Is it then ok to rally to get him off the airways?

This is democracy in progress. He said what he wanted. Now, the people are having their say. The very same could have been done with Maher.

Perhaps some have forgotten his other show, Politically Incorrect, which was cancelled after pressure from the public and loss of advertisers.

While similar comments had been made in other media, Maher's comments became a major controversy.[4] Some advertisers withdrew their support and some ABC affiliates stopped airing the show temporarily.[4] White House press secretary Ari Fleischer denounced Maher, warning that "people have to watch what they say and watch what they do."[5]

Sounds familiar, doesnt it? His goose got cooked. Now, its Rush's turn.

Its a form of censorship.

Not unless it's the government or a quango thereoff taking legal action to shut him up it isn't. If that was a good enough excuse for clear channel trying to destroy the Dixie Chicks' career, it's a good enough excuse for Limpbaugh as well.

As far as the petition goes, no. I don't agree with it. Its a form of censorship.

For it to be "censorship" it would need to come from an "authority".

This is a movement of a group of people who have loathed Limbaugh for years (in some cases; decades) based strictly upon his point of view. He gave them what they've been looking for. It's Christmas day for the group of radical lefties that can't debate as adults so their only defense is to shut up the competition so they don't need to debate.

This group of people, while just as howl-at-the-moon crazy as Limbaugh only from the other side of the political spectrum are well within their rights as American citizens.

It doesn't come from an authority. It's not censorship. It's just six-year-old-kid style, sandbox, "debate".

Peace and comfort,

Michael

How else would you expect anybody to debate Limbaugh, of all people?
