. Also another advertiser who pulled advertising has suffered a 12 percent drop in business because of anger from Limbaugh’s fans.

I think we are fooling ourselves if we think the backlash from his comments is hurting him…In fact his viewer ship has gone up.

Butch

Got a link for that or are we just taking your word for it?

Limbaugh's show was already down more than 30% from a year ago before this fiasco.

He's insane.

Rush Limbaugh Scandal Proves Contagious for Talk-Radio Advertisers
Mar 10, 2012 12:00 AM EST

Ninety-eight major advertisers—including Ford and Geico—will no longer air spots on Premiere Networks’ ‘offensive’ programs. Insiders say the loss will rock right-wing talk radio.

Women ages 24–55 are the prize advertising demographic, and you have a perfect storm emerging after Limbaugh’s Sandra Fluke comments.

Are you referring to Carbonite?

Carbonite has been losing money hand over fist since the day it opened, and it's own financial filings report it doesn't expect to make money in the foreseeable future.

I think investors might care about that more than Rush.

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/current-tvs-cenk-uygur-issues-10000-challenge-to-rush-limbaugh-prove-your-ratings/

It's more than this controversy. Rush's ratings are made up by him in the first place. Right wing talk radio has been falling fast, and not so much for political reasons as (1) their primary audience, older white males, is dying (literally), and (2) the rise of social media gives a faster and more satisfying outlet for venting, and grows daily.

Radio is so 2008.

Who do you mean "WE"? Your statement betrays your never having been a part of the "we".

Just looking out for the intellectual honesty that should be maintained when the viewpoint is as polarized as yours.

Prove the above statement. This very thread contains a number of examples of advertisers walking away as well as stations taking him off their programming roster. And it's a long way from over.

And it's listener-ship absence of hallucinations anyway.

Well it seems this initiative has failed miserably…At least one advertiser is begging to be reinstated with Limbaugh…and he laughingly refused to take them back. Also another advertiser who pulled advertising has suffered a 12 percent drop in business because of anger from Limbaugh’s fans.

I think we are fooling ourselves if we think the backlash from his comments is hurting him…In fact his viewer ship has gone up.

SOrry dude, this is the three month stock from carbonite....taken five minutes or so ago
Notice the drop, notice the drop around feb 24 when Google announced its cloud backup...then notice the drop the day the market crashed...(the same day the rush shot hit the fan and people unloaded their stock...notice how now its back up....not as much, but other stocks dipped a lot more. so...
sorry Butch, you are not really correct in your statement.

Besides ... the right wing kooks of today are pure babyfood for idiots who need a big-ass spoon feeding. All they do is deliver a diet of directed resentment a bunch of people who feel they got shorted somehow, or by someone.
Back in the day, they used to have real right wing radio... Like the Joe Pine show. Where he'd routinely accuse the Beatles of being from Outer Space.

The way Butch is putting it, Carbonite's becoming a casualty is where WE failed... As if we're now supposed to prop up the wallets of asshole Corporate punks who "stand by their man" as Connie Francis would have worded it.
Fuck that ... Ride with Fatso, Die with Fatso... No notes from the nurse.

Wiki- List of most-listened-to radio programs

The total listenership for terrestrial radio in the year 2005 was 230 million.[3] Sirius XM Radio has a base of 18.5 million subscribers as of 2009.[4] American Top 40 attracts over 20 million listeners per week.[5] Rush Limbaugh's show has been the number one commercial talk show since at least 1991 when record keeping began.[1][2][6] NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered are the two most popular news programs.[7]

Rush Limbaugh's show has been the number one commercial talk show since at least 1991 when record keeping began

Limbaugh is listed at +15m weekly listeners

I love how the left is dancing and prancing. Limbaugh's inconsiderate remarks reminds me of Patton slapping a soldier. In the end it may be beneficial.

That's not the point. Of course it's been a popular show. Check your Wiki--the data is from 2006, 2008, and "retrieved 9/2011" -- not the point when the topic is falling ratings. You've established only that they've fallen from somewhere.

Also, in 2007, ratings gatherings switched from diaries to receivers sending actual listening, and turns out people listened to a LOT more music than they were reporting.

Again, Rush's silly incident will eventually fade. But right wing talk radio is slowly dying because their demographic and their business model is dying.
