why do they even have to use class? who the hell really cares if one or the other is rich. It only adds to the fantasy of it I guess. But it never fails he is rich and she could care less about money.

TNDommeK -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/11/2012 2:06:53 PM)

Because the writer feels that is every woman's fantasy probably. Or because Ana views him as the perfect guy: rich, handsome, own a business, but has this "dark side",lol.

Moonlightmaddnes -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/12/2012 2:29:21 PM)

Well that is yet another thing she got wrong.

It is what it is.

But of an aside, but what does that mean, exactly? I've never seen that line anywhere else other than here on CM. What else could it be, other than what it is?

Remember 'Dallas' on the telly? Tedious things become a lot more interesting, somehow, if everything's set against a background of piles of money. Or European titles of nobility, or preferably both.

Oh god dallas. You know that brought that show back x.x

I guess for some it is fascinating. It never drew me into a storyline. some of my favorite stories have nothing to do with wealth.

Only one shade of green in this town, and it all means go.

Dresproperty -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/12/2012 5:08:59 PM)

Yes I have read it and thought it was an ok book.

What I find silly is now that BDSM is hitting the main stream, its now seems to be the in fad thing to be involved in. For me being a masochistic slave is who I am~not what I do. So the idea that people are now wanting to do it to appear cool or hip~ well it sets my teeth on edge. However they are adults and will do what they will do.

nooooooooooooooo not grateful dead. When my husband an I were dating he could not wait to show me his most favorite band. I listened to it and thought is that all?? I looked at him and told him wow no wonder you did so many drugs in high school. You'd have to be high to enjoy this music. He gave me a hurt look then said hey now I went to a couple shows completely sober! LOL

littlewonder -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/12/2012 7:12:08 PM)

Oh man...don't even get Master started about the Grateful Dead lol. He can go on and on about his Deadhead days as a youth lol.

OH man I feel for you. He grew up in LA at the height of their fame. Oh the stories he tells.

littlewonder -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/13/2012 1:05:45 AM)

Master apparently was a deadhead and followed them around the country. I'm surprised sometimes the man is still alive lol.

ClassIsInSession -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/13/2012 1:10:35 AM)

Nothing wrong with the Dead. I was glad I got to see Jerry several times before he passed. Not my favorite band, but if you really pay attention to the music, the mastery is very apparent. I'm more of a Pink Floyd man myself...

Kana -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/13/2012 7:49:57 AM)

Ahem, the Dead were the Dead. When they were on, they were the best live band in the world, and when they were off they were awful...but I always loved watching them walk the highwire sheer improv "no idea where this train is going" completly off the cuff and flying highighhigh with no nets in sight aspect of their performance.
Plus I admired the balls to get out and do that every night for decades. I admire perseverance.

mandmlv -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/13/2012 8:16:54 AM)

Are we straying a bit from the topic?

Moonlightmaddnes -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/13/2012 7:56:38 PM)

LOL I have tried to like the grateful dead. I reallly have, they are dear husbands favorite band. I just can't. I asked him how he knew they were so good live with how many drugs he was on during the show. He said he went to a few sober and he still loved the music. I do believe he has every single album, but he is nice and does not force me to listen.

And pink floyd. I do like them so that is a safe genre with us. Otherwise we have radio wars since I am more of a metal head then him.

MercTech -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/14/2012 9:20:50 AM)

Reading 50 Shades of Gray on my phone during dull times at work....

Class... I can see that. In fact, after about six chapters it is reminding me of a slightly kink version of Cinderella crossed with Beauty and the Beast. Yep, the Prince of Plunder is attracted to and stalking the wallflower college girl.

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/15/2012 3:17:06 AM)

One other thing about this book: It's dangerous.

At one point he whips her over her kidneys.

littlewonder -> RE: 50 Shades of Grey (7/15/2012 4:00:46 AM)

Yeah and vampires bite into carotid arteries which would normally lead to a person bleeding to death lol.

It's fiction. If people act on fiction, imo that's their own damn fault.
