So, in your opinion, no law should ever be improved?

Do you put up new pictures your bathroom, Ken, before you fix an overflowing toilet?

The law sunsets this year. It has to be reauthorized or it ceases to exist. What better time would their be to improve it?

Maybe when a hungover houseguest's morning explosion isn't headed for the hall carpet?

It would seem that Heretic has no care for women being beaten, raped or anything else dealing with women. Typical Rightest for the year.

The Right`s Sandra Fluke Conspiracy Theories: A Guide

"Searching for an escape hatch now that the contraception wars are spinning out of their control, Republicans and conservatives are working to turn the Sandra Fluke saga into one big liberal conspiracy.

As Fluke vows that slurs won’t silence women, here’s a handy guide to the theories floating around on the right about the Georgetown law student who was smeared by Rush Limbaugh and has since created headaches for the GOP."

Conspiracy No. 1: The White House Planted Her!

Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly believes he’s found the smoking gun in the liberal plot: The public relations firm that represents Fluke, SKDKnickerbocker, counts White House alum Anita Dunn among its partners. “A-ha!” O’Reilly declared triumphantly. “So this whole deal comes back to the White House.”

SKDKnickerbocker says its dialogue with Fluke began only after she became a household name, but even if that weren’t the case, here’s what O’Reilly’s theory boils down to: The White House secretly enlisted Dunn to convince a woman to testify at a House Republican hearing about contraception, in the hope that she’d be rejected, receive lots of attention for it, later testify at a Dem hearing, get called a “slut” and “prostitute” by Limbaugh and thus embarrass senior Republicans who would be hard-pressed to unequivocally rebuke him.

Conspiracy No. 2: House Democrats Trapped Republicans!

An anonymous “Republican committee source” told The Washington Examiner’s Byron York that House Dems “played games” with the GOP in the run-up to the hearing that lit up the brouhaha. The aide said Dems first proposed Fluke as one of two witness options and, after the GOP chose the other one, insisted they only wanted Fluke and told the other not to show up.

The trouble with that is Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) said at the hearing that it was his own staff who decreed Fluke not “appropriate” or “qualified” to testify. Regardless of whether Dems tried to pull a fast one, the rejection of Fluke from that panel had a lot to do with making her a national story, and that was the GOP’s own doing."

Boy.....talk about defeated and demoralized......looking for every possible excuse for their giant fail other than their own conduct.....
I guess to be a rightist, one must blame EVERYTHING bad that happens to them.........on liberals.....or the press.....etc. etc......yada yada....

Proving once again that the Democrats would rather campaign and demonize the opposition than govern in any sort of effective manner, the Senate is getting ready to turn the Violence Against Women act into the next talking point in their crafted narrative. The law has been around since 1994, and would walk right through a reauthorization, allowing them time to discuss, oh, I don't know, a budget maybe, but that would make entirely too much sense.

Accusations fly in Senate over Violence Against Women Act

The headlines just write themselves, don't they? Coming soon to the fundraising emails in your inbox, and a dozen threads near you.

Because God forbid this election should involve talking about issues not created by the DNC focus groups...

See, Rich, if you want to wring your hands over politicizing events rather than governing, and you want to lament that Democrats do this while ignoring that it's GOP SOP, what's the point of even entering the discussion?

Well that's just a lovely example of precisely the demonization the Dems are hoping to gin up with their exploitation of women, Jlf.

Okay, EXPLAIN please how the BS being spouted by the right concerning birth control, abortion and everything else is SUPPORTING WOMEN"S RIGHTS

How many threads have we got from the "war on women," narrative, Muse? How much news coverage is devoted to it? You think I'm not going to pull back the curtain?

Pass any cell towers on that commute of yours? Has it even made into any of your news sources that local communities have recently been stripped by the feds of the authority to control how much taller and uglier they can get?

No, the RNC is guilty of putting that at the forefront. remember the Issa Panel? Lots of "c***s but no vaginas...... remember Rush calling her a slut and a prostitute for the fucking wrong reasons, but no, you just take digs from the sidelines and wonder why people wont take your digs laying down?

pull back your own curtain!

Well,pretty recently.......actually.......

These rights and norms were well established doing just fine till your party started meddling with them over the last year or so......

So now you`re going to whine that folks are discussing these topics?

You should worry about a cogent arguement and let us or the general public discuss anything we/they want for as often as we/they want.Don`t feel you must participate. You don`t.

If you recall, the news before this crap was about '08',OWS,leaving Iraq, the budget,health-care(killing old people tho,not birth-control),birthers,gay marraige and DADT, etc.......very little about abortion,birth-control,sonogrames etc......

In your travels, Rich, have you ever come across the phrase "Begging the Question?"

I answered the question, Muse, and then I raised an issue that might be of interest to a rural homeowner, or to suburban dwellers, that seems to have been completely missed in the media because the people who inform us are too busy looking for stupid proposed legislation in the state houses, to pay any mind at all to reporting on the final product coming out of Washington.

tazzygirl -> RE: Next up on the Democrat manipulation of women agenda (3/18/2012 2:56:07 PM)

Rich, are you ignoring me?

I asked for links to the bills.  Without such, I cannot say what they are arguing for or against is good or bad.

Here is the one presented by Mr Leahy.

http://www.opencongress.org/bill/112-s1925/text

I cannot find the other.

Why are you comparing reducing violence to woman to fixing toilets?

Belittling and objectifying women has no place in any rational discussion.

You should really apologize.

That whole Woman == Toilet thing is over the line.

The Republicans:
Started the manufactroversy about a very minor change to existing federal mandate on prescription contraception.
Have a major candidate for their Presidential nomination openly talking about his desire to make contraception illegal.
Have pushed "personhood" laws and amendments in several states.
Have the undisputed leader of the party using incredibly coarse language for 3 days in discussing the morals of a woman who simply stood up for existing rights.
Have pushed mandatory foreign object rape laws for women seeking a legal medical procedure.
Have attempted to destroy the leading provider of poor women's health care over a legal procedure that accounts for less than 3% of its actions.

That's not a Democratic narrative. Those are the facts on the ground and from where I'm standing it sure as hell looks like a war on women to me.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Next up on the Democrat manipulation of women agenda (3/18/2012 3:04:30 PM)

Vice President Biden think President Obama is in the wrong on Uganda:

Vice President Biden at odds with His President

One would think (although, I'm not sure) the the Vice Presidential oath is nearly identical to the Presidential oath. So, I'm forced to ponder: If a VP believes that the President is in the wrong, is he duty-bound to do something about it?

Peace and comfort,

Michael
