Winterapple -> RE: Next up on the Democrat manipulation of women agenda (3/18/2012 6:29:02 PM)

FR
The Lords Resistance Army Disarmament
and Northern Uganda Recovery Act was
signed into law in May 2010 after being
passed by both houses of Congress on
May 10 2010.
The President is not acting outside his
authority.
Sending military advisors in of course
bears the taint of Viet Nam. But I don't
think this is headed in the direction of
Viet Nam or Iraq. I don't believe more
troops of any great number much less
combat troops which these troops are
not will ever be sent in.
There are crimes of humanity taking
place there. Crimes on a far greater
scale than Iraq. That the bill passed
with votes from both parties and both
houses implies that the matter can not
in all good conscious be ignored by the
rest of the world. You turn a blind eye
long enough you eventually go blind
in both eyes.
Senate Republicans have nothing to do
with the gridlock surrounding the budget?
They seem dedicated to blocking everything
they can. The reauthorization and
expansion of this act would seem a
case in point. If they want to go
against helping the poorest of the
poor and throw in gay and lesbian
prejudice while there at it their
opponents don't have to manipulate
anything. It is what is and pigeons
have a way of coming home to roost.

Well that's just a lovely example of precisely the demonization the Dems are hoping to gin up with their exploitation of women, Jlf.

Okay, EXPLAIN please how the BS being spouted by the right concerning birth control, abortion and everything else is SUPPORTING WOMEN"S RIGHTS

Well, considering the latest BS spouted from the Right is about who is going to pay for birth control and abortion, not restricting access, it has nothing to do with, nor against, women's rights.

Preventing women from being allowed to use birth control, or prevent them from getting an abortion would be against women's rights. Not forcing others to pay is not anti women's rights.

Are you arguing that by not subsidizing birth control and abortion, we are preventing women from choosing their options?

Nope. They're saying it's not "fair". They're "entitled" to it.

Here's some KLEENEX™©. That's what you're entitled to.

Peace and comfort,

please find any woman claiming they are "entitled"
Not one woman has said it, on this latest bullshit.

They don't care about facts. It's a 'dog whistle' to other Republicans, signifying "Cadillac Driving Welfare Queens Spending MY MONEY!". It doesn't matter if it's a lie. The *average* Republican is just too fucking dumb to know or care how stupid they sound repeating this horseshit... You get enough retarded nitwits screaming the same stupid shit, and all rational discussion gets drowned out....

Well of course it is, Owner59. Everybody knows that the loudly proclaimed values of upstanding Democrats, such as yourself, are entirely flexible, and based only on the political expediencies of the day, without any shred of real substance behind them.

Got news for you. There are republican controlled states that are trying to pass laws that would make abortion the same as murder. Republican talking heads, (remember Rush?) who have said that women who use birth control are sluts and whores. Ricky boy has said basically the same thing.

TheHeretic -> RE: Next up on the Democrat manipulation of women agenda (3/18/2012 8:33:59 PM)

Winterapple, President Obama could have easily had the lawyers tell him that the 2010 action gave him all the authority he needed to send the Green Berets to help in Uganda, and then kept the deployment of Special Forces classified. He didn't. Probably for political reasons, and to put on a symbolic display following his Libyan actions, he made a point of honoring the War Powers Act on this one. And the time limits expressed in the law, the law he chose to walk the line with this time, are up.

Now perhaps Congress has passed an authorization, or the troops have come home, and the media was too busy talking about what some dumbass state rep from Anal Intercourse Arkansas has proposed in his legislature to mention that, but my Google-Fu isn't up to finding it. Unless it is out there, then the Ugandan deployment has probably become illegal, through simple negligence.

Winterapple -> RE: Next up on the Democrat manipulation of women agenda (3/19/2012 1:28:36 AM)

I assume the White House's argument would be the
same it was when the president was accused of
not honoring the War Powers Resolution act
when he decided to enforce the no fly
zone over Libya.
American involvement fell short of full
blown hostilities. US involvement doesn't
involve sustained fighting or active exchange
of fire with hostile forces.
The same argument holds here.
As for why he didn't keep it classified
and that he did so for good pr surely
the opposite would be truer.
If he kept it classified after the
Republicans criticized him for Libya
wouldn't they have been more critical
if he did this in secret?
By going through the public motions he
was understandably making clear why
he was doing what he was doing.
And I believe it was the right who
were eager for a greater involvement
in Libya. And I'm not sure very many
on the right who are against the advisors
in Uganda. John McCain said the president
had worthy goals but should have consulted
Congress. Consulted meaning I assume
ask for their opinions not their permission.
I have uneasiness surrounding any of
our military in Uganda or Africa and a
lot of other places. That it wasn't
kept classified makes me believe the
president wants this mission to be
transparent. Not a bad thing.
And according to that unimpeachable
source Wiki every president since 1973
when the War Powers Resolution act was
passed have thought the act was unconstitutional.

I heard that on MSNBC or maybe it was HBO this time, and yes, she is a "dumb bitch" according to that guy who speaks for the Democratic Party from his HBO show, the alter ego of Rush. So, all you Democratic womens rights proponents remember how tolerant and respectful of women the Democratic spokesperson is.

When Bill Maher is made an honorary Congressman, as Limbaugh was in '94, and honored on the floor of Congress, as Limbaugh was in 2001, and a speaker at the Democratic equivalent of CPAC, as Rush did in 2009, then you can call him a spokesman for the Democrats. Until then, he's a comedian with a political show like Jon Stewart.

When Limbaugh regularly performs stand-up for an hour in front of a live audience, as Maher did Feb 23, then you can call him a comedian.

Come on. You have to get your priorities straight. What's more important...taking care of the financial mess we are in or demonizing 1/2 the country? After all, there are elections coming up.

I agree, getting our priorities in order should be job #1.Just the other day Republican want to be candidate Rick Santurom let us know that as President he would come down hard on the porn industry.
Yep,getting those priorities in place is very important.Rick is going to make sure they speak English in P.R. too [8|]

I don't think we should be basing our priorities on the actions of an idiot. But he is a good example of focusing in the wrong direction at least as far as I am concerned.

I'd like to think that the average Republican isn't actually a "retarded nitwit" but explaining to everyone that all the educated people are in the other party really hasn't helped the Republicans image in that area.

I think the problem is that the christian right is actually using the faith based magical thinking that they have been taught. Here's a recent example by Rick Santorum http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VokvT0CyT5E&feature=player_embedded

It turns out that while society at large accepts heart acquired knowledge on a very narrow range of subjects we also think that it looks like utter stupidity when it comes to everything else such as dutch forced euthanasia for instance.

Many Republicans were furious at that suggestion and accused Democrats of election-year politics by trying to paint Republicans as anti-women.

Funny - I thought the R's were doing a pretty good job of painting that canvas themselves.

They're regular Picassos!

Charles6682 -> RE: Next up on the Democrat manipulation of women agenda (3/19/2012 3:05:55 PM)

Democrats don't need to do much to paint the Republicans as anti Womens right. The Republicans are really doing a great job of that themselves.Sure, there are some conservative Women out there like Sarah Palin,Ann Coulter and so on.But in the end,its usually the Women vote that usually helps to put a Democratic President in the White House. Its no surprise Demcrats are courtingt he Female vote as they should be.Lets see who else Republicans can piss off before the Election comes.

Funny, I think the same thing every time the liberals start up. I guess they feel if they throw enough shit against the wall, some of it is bound to stick.

Charles6682 -> RE: Next up on the Democrat manipulation of women agenda (3/19/2012 3:28:29 PM)

This should be a very interesting election year.Democrats just need to step back and let the Republicans continue to make a fool out of themselves. They do it every time they open thier mouths.

Charles6682 -> RE: Next up on the Democrat manipulation of women agenda (3/19/2012 3:31:11 PM)

I'll say this,as a liberal sub,I would still let Sarah Palin have her way with me!
