I generally also think the subs are more cantankerous than the doms but I can't really support that thought, it's just an impression. I wouldn't even begin to hazard a guess why that is though (assuming it's even true). I can think of lots of possible reasons.

Unless someone constantly proclaims it via their posts, most people on here I've no idea whether they are dominant or submissive. Many of them that do not have a gender specific name or avatar, I've no clue whether they are female or male.

That being said, some people are just assy. Some people have communication styles that lead a person to think they are assy when reading their communications. Some people seem to find great joy in being thought of as assy. And some people seem to think the world would come to a crashing halt if even one person thought they were being assy.

Such is life.

I think anything other than a hand, such as the wooden spoon or belt mentioned, does carry the strong potential for abuse. If there's interest, let's start a new thread.

Back on topic - I notice bluntness mostly in the Dommes. I think I'm used to women using more words to get to the point, so I notice it more when they don't and don't notice when men are succinct.

Now that the Fearsome Foursome are gone, I don't notice a lot of aggression.

OP - These words are subjective - your "aggressive" might be my "blunt."

I agree with littewonder's statement. Subs outnumber the Doms by a vast margin. There are subs who are very dominant alphas and there are subs who are very gentle in nature and everywhere inbetween.

Submission is a gift. Just because someone is a submissive does not mean they cannot be dominant. Many times that submission is only given to 1 special person.
