When I used to work and could afford a great hairdresser, I had one I stuck with for 20 yrs. I moved 300 miles away and still used to drive there and back in one day to get it washed, cut and colored. Used to be about $150, but then I could afford it. I'm now on disability pension and trying to cut my own hair is dangerous to my health. Bangs aren't bad, but I can really screw up the sides. I've now found a place here in town, $15 + tip, get the same hairdresser and she does a great job. My hair is easy, it's short, I want wash and wear. As for color, I do my own. I buy L'Oreal only, and make it whatever shade of dark red and it comes out looking good. I do what I can with what I have and I'm a happy camper for now.

A cut and color every 6 weeks costs $150, and is worth every penny. She is a perfectionist and makes sure my hair looks great, even with my unskilled styling. I would rather die than go to on 8 dollar a haircut hair butcher. The difference is obvious.
