Have a Happy Zombie Jesus Day all you atheists out there and try not to puke unless you've reached a point where that really would be the better outcome.

Let me tell you why I'm a born-again Atheist.

First, I'd like to explain the term "born-again Atheist."  I was born an Atheist - that is, literally "without God" - just as we all are.  I was then raised (notice, I did not say "brain-washed") as an Episcopalian. Now, I'm a born-again Atheist, that is, I have returned to the "religious" status of my birth.

Having a good voice, I was in the choir. Each Easter, we'd sing FIVE masses of Easter...... the songs, Gospels, etc. were each matched into a particular style, emphazing various aspects of the Easter message (note, I did not say "story" nor "fable.")

Being the smart young (about 12 or 13 years old) man I was, and having plenty of time between songs LOL, I started to read all five Gospel accounts side-by-side. [One of Matthew, Mark, Luke or John has TWO stories of the Risen Christ - YOU go find which one. LOL!] The inconsitencies are over-whelming.  I became interested in "comparative Religion" and am here to tell you the net result is my Atheism.  I became an intermittent atendee and eventually stopped attending services, oh, at about age 18 or 19, finding absolutely NO relevance in my life.

A sophism, if you will; "I simply believe in one less God than you do."  If you need that expanded, think about your answer to a series of questions "Do you believe in Thor? Ra? Hera?" etc., continung throughout history.  I image you and I would have the same series of answers of "No."
------------
As to the gross picture in the OP,  one of my Atheist friends came to her Atheism simply and IHMO horribly by being made to kiss the feet of cucifxes throughout her grammar school.  What a horrible thing  for a child - to worship a brutal and violent means of death.

Yep.... Atheist do sometimes see the Easter story as having parallels to a zombie story.

Me, I see religion as a way to try to explain life and death and find a purpose in both.  In general, people are afraid of death, but if they have a belief in a future life, it puts them at ease, right?

Me, having had a near-death experience [auto "accident" where I was hit from behind at 70 miles per hour by DUI]  has made me not afraid of dying. I could call myself "fearless" I guess.  There was no death-bed conversion,  no "God, I pray to you to help me survive, but if it is your will, etc."   Four words: "Air Bag, Seat Belt."

--------------

I hope each of you have a great day, regardless of the location of the Moon with respect to the Sun - that is, after all, what sets the date of Easter, y'know?

What's all this about this Jesus guy? I thought Easter was a chocolate festival?

All well and good.

The compulsion to publicly share that on Easter, however, goes beyond a personal belief.

Oh come on, it's the world oldest fertility festival: the festival of Astarte, which coincides with the spring equinox.

It's the time for the old to die honorably, surrounded by the celebration of new life.

Go bury your dead, plow your fields, bang your old lady in the garden, hide some eggs.

Not a good day to be a complete dick. Happy Easter to all from an atheist who loves holidays and appreciates the Bible and the universal desire to conquer death. When you eliminate the nonsense, Jesus message is that you only overcome the limitation of death through a life of love and service.

That one is obviously "made up."  This is NOT:

One version of the "poem" I found reads as:

Red is for the blood He gave.Green is for the grass He made.Yellow is for the sun so bright.Orange is for the edge of night.Black is for the sins we made. White is for the grace He gave.Purple is for His hour of sorrow.Pink is for a new tomorrow. And handful of jelly beans,Colorful and sweet,Is a prayer, a promise,A loved one’s treat!Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Seems these "prose poems" vary as much as the hankie code. LOL!

Easter will look like a doddle by comparison when it comes to the UK's Queen's Silver Jubilee later on for someone, like me, who's both a non-religionist *and* a non-monarchist.

Damn, I really miss The Walking Dead. And for the record, Peeps suck! Hard limit! Points for creative use, though...

Since you're obviously not too concerned, I'll give you a hand:
Silver is 25th (1952 + 25 = 1977)
Gold is 50th (1952 + 50 = 2002)
Upcoming is Diamond for 60th (1952 + 60 = 2012)

Then we have ascension vs. coronation, so I'm guessing 2013 is the BIG ONE. LOL!

------------

OOPS!  [Google is your friend.]

The celebrations will centre around an extended weekend in 2012 on 2, 3, 4 and 5 June.

-----------
peon - for SHAME..... you make me drift. LOL!

Why not go find an egg hunt, or eat a chocolate rabbit...or peeps, chicks. Its clear its not just a religious holiday to some. Why taunt Christians just because you don't believe? I know we all have an opinion, but yours is the same ole, same ole.

And it gets old after a while
