I've carried pepper spray in the past, when I took the train to work. With a handgun, I know I can hit a target up to 10 yards away. I don't have to be within arms reach to defend myself.

we will have to agree to differ on this one, I reckon the vast majority of burglars are after stuff, likes phones, jewelry cash etc, they are not there to kill you. Most burglars will run a mile as soon as they think there is someone in the house or that they have woken the householders up. We have two gun safes and we use them.

everyone on CM says how careful they are, even keeping the rounds and the guns in seperate places, it's all locked up, nice and safe. How the fuck is that gonna help when you wander into the kitchen and find a guy stealing shit? Are you going to politely ask him to hang around for a couple of minutes while you rummage around looking for keys and unlocking gun cabinets and safes?

I don't say that. I have a .357 sitting right here about a foot away from me and he has on his a Ruger .45 loaded safety off. In the kitchen we have a few more and there is another one in my truck loaded as well. So I am quite fucking sure there will be no fumbling when an intruder breaks in. I have pulled mine twice and one of those times I am absolutely certain it prevented a major incident from occurring.
