Sorry for your loss. I am sure your mother is heartbroken, but it sounds like she was blessed to have this man in her life for as many years as they were together. I hope she finds comfort in that.

On the internet, it is very hard to express condolences. I am very sorry for what you and your family are going through. I experienced the slow and painful death of my father, and I know exactly how it feels to be so very far away with no way to help other than a phone call.

Keep your chin up and stay strong for your family as well as yourself.

Don't feel guilty for wishing what he would probably wish himself.

Reflect on who he was, the way he would want to be remembered, and grieve in your own way and your own time.
