I don't know if this helps but if you look at the lifestyle in general it has always and in some areas still is taken as a negative thing .... hell some people are still called freaks . when I use terms such as slut and whore .. it's used affectionately .... or part of a power exchange ...

I love being called a freak... !... I think it is a total compliment whether the person means it as such or not.....[:D]

Like I said I know in this life slut is seen as a term of endearment I just want to know why we have taken on such a nagatively conotative word on as a good thing. We should be above that!! I just dont get it

You might want to refer to some of the literature that is out there...I think Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns has a pretty good explanation as to why some submissives/dominants enjoy this type of play/endearments.

Proprietrix -> RE: whore slut?? (6/5/2006 9:06:25 AM)

I haven’t read the whole thread, so I’m sorry if I repeat someone else…
I don’t use nasty names. I prefer to use pet names. Like "my boy", "puppy", "little one", "babygurl", etc. Using nasty names makes me feel like I’m putting on a sexual fantasy façade for the benefit of sexual arousal. Since I’m not big into the whole sexual aspect of wiitwd, sexual buzz words just aren’t my thing.
However, I don’t see them as degrading when others use them as terms of endearment.
It’s not uncommon for a group of people to take the insulting words of outsiders and apply those words inside the in-group as terms of affection. It’s no different than teenage girls who jokingly call one another "bitch". Or black gangsters who call each other "nigger". Or guys who proudly refer to themselves as "rednecks". It’s a sub-cultural way of empowerment. I suspect the same is true when a group of sexually deviant perverts call each other … um… sexually deviant perverts.

MistressDeAnnya -> RE: whore slut?? (6/5/2006 9:15:14 AM)

I think it depends.
Alot of ppl here say they love it when thier Master calls them this.. I totally understand that and even agree with it, pet names can be fun.

But I know many ppl who are offended when a stranger writes to you and says it in a greetings..like "Hello whore.. blah blah you lil slut" then it just isnt cute. Ive even heard girls say they wanna turn a guy in for it.

Edited to add:
Its kind of like when one is sitting at a bar and a stranger comes up and says "hey whore/slut, you wanna drink?" you dont know what context he is using it.. ya kinda wanna slap his face. lol
So I think it depends on how its used. Its not always a compliment like when a lover calls you that.. so I can understand why the OP wonders why we should always accept it.

Thats my opinion.

IronBear -> RE: whore slut?? (6/5/2006 9:18:20 AM)

I again have not read the entire thread as i too rish posting something which has already been stated. However one girl I had was want to explain to people face to face when  eyebrows were rainsed or a question was voiced why I refered to her as my slut or my whore: "I am proud to be his slut because i will strip when, where and before who he commands and will behave like a slut to please my Master. I am also proud to be Master's whore because I will fuck where, when, how and who he commands, in order to please my Master." I guess that says it all......

how is it that someone who has 2 college degrees almost a Masters in psychology and education cant grasp a concept of some people like something and others dont? and that just because one person sees something as "bad" someone else wont....? and having an almost Masters degree in psychology still get so over heated that they attack others but cry when its reversed?

Part of what I learned when I did my first psych degree (Criminal Psychology) was understanding that people will view some words differently and although it may at times be necessary to understand who a specific person understands specific words the way he or she does, it is generally considered that most people will underrstand words according to how they see them used most often. I can understand that when people become involved in any subculture they will suffer some form of culture shock. This was part of my disertation for my Masters Degree in Applied Psychology.

I was thinking about this RS, and I could be WAY off and I'm sure Enigma will let me know, but I am thinking mayhap she is dyslexic, I am dyelexic and  alot of my posts look like hers, with letters in the word being switched around sometimes, and the thoughts not fully formed, because mayhap she is searchnig for a word she knows how to spell without crossing backwards..also, maybe if she is dyslexic she has a trouble understanding what she is reading, maybe it's hard for her to puzzle out what's being said in the right content, sometimes I have to re-read a post twice before I can fully understand it...like I said, maybe, maybe not..

I dont have a problem with people seeing things differently and I understand that we all see certain things differently, what gets me is that a questions was asked, answers were given and then it was thrown back into the peoples faces that answered... if you dont want to know something dont ask, and if you arent willing to accept that people see things differently and sometimes things just are.... then for petesakes dont post in an open forum.... ( this is in no way aimed at you other than saying I do understand where you personally are coming from but I think you may have misunderstood my op )

Its not about spelling its about the basic concept that people see things differently than others but when pointed out she bitches about it.... dont ask if you dont want others answers, and certainly dont run off crying and getting pissy when people give an answer you may not like.... as far as I know dyslexia has nothing to do with that....

I have a friend who is dyslexic but he goes out of his way to read and reread posts, letters, everything to try and catch or self edit these things.... yes we all make typos thats not a big deal..... I'm sure everyone has a copy of the typonese handbook around and has added their own chapters to it....

Tamerofwild1s -> RE: whore slut?? (6/5/2006 10:29:44 AM)

you correct them ?? interesting . but then again I know who you are .. we have dealt with each other once before pinkee ...

Well ..... let me reitertate one more time . whats right for some maybe due to mental circumstances . and is not always for everyone . lets not condemn those of us who do like what you don't

No no, I'm sorry I wasn't clear there, I mean maybe if she is, dyslexic she has a problem understanding what is being said to her, because she is reading it, it's not being spoken to her face to face, so it may be that it's harder for her to process...though I do completely see where your comming from

The issue isn't really what she professes to know, or how bad her grammar and spelling are.

It's really the constant attitude of "If I read it and like it then it's good, but if I read it and dislike it then it's completely wrong, and that's just how it is"

Even in her own thread supposedly attempting to understand something, I saw no evidence of actual work on her part to try and get around it, just a constant brick wall, followed by her standard emotional pouty stop-ganging-up-on-me response.

This, COMBINED with really horrid spelling and grammar, makes for a bad combo.

why is it that in this life style beeing called a whore or a slut is a good thing. I have had many prespective Doms call me that as terms of endearment and it turns me off completly why do such nasty words have to be used as per names in this life... think of what the words me and I know I am neather of them. I dont sleep around or show off my body in fact Im shy and yes I am a real life virgin. I Hate beeing called these things and I dont get why Doms feel it is nessesery. I am like the most monogamus person ever and I dont get why one would call me these things that I am so aparently not??

please someone clarafy this need for me

If a prospective dominant decides that it's ok to write me an email calling me a slut, he's going to get back a scathing, blast filled reply for taking the liberty. I do NOT appreciate being called slut, I will not tolerate someone who doesn't know me calling me any such thing. I think it's disrespectful and engaging me in their kink without my consent. If Himself wants to call me slut, and he does so on occasion, that's a different story and it doesn't bother me at all. It is about context and the relationship you have with someone.

Emailing someone out of the blue or even after you've shared a few emails with them is very different and using a term which absolutely 'does' have a negative connotation to it is, in my opinion, low class and NOT someone whom I would spend another second of time on. Until they 'ask' me if I'm ok with it, it just shouldn't be done anymore than I should go up to a stranger at a play party and start using my quirt on them.
