http://www.examiner.com/article/karl-rove-predicts-romney-loss-to-obama

"Republican strategist Karl Rove, who is considered the architect of George W. Bush's two successful campaigns for the White House, is predicting that Mitt Romney will have a difficult time beating Barack Obama in the general election in November.

According to Rove, the situation is so dire that if the election were held today, Obama would win handily.

Romney is the presumptive Republican nominee, although he does not yet have enough delegates to win.

Rove is known for his pinpoint accuracy in predicting how the states will vote in general elections. In 2008 he correctly predicted the election results in 48 out of 50 states.

In an interview with NewsMax yesterday, Rove states that if the election were held today, Obama would win 284 electoral votes compared to Romney's 157. A candidate must win at least 270 electoral votes to gain the presidency."

I think they need some idea to have a chance. As they hammer HCR it will educate people on what it acrually is and frankly there is a reason insurance companies are dumping cash into republican coffers. If it hurts their bottomline you know it improves access to care

Also the Ryan budget is just GWB and Reagan 82 all over again. it relies on insane economic figuires like 1 percent unemployment and 5 percent growth in gdp as soon as 2013 to balance the budget in 30 yrs????? It is heavy on taxcuts up front and spending cuts in the future. It is another GOP generational deficit tax is all it is. No new ideas worth a damn. the only new republican idea of the last 20 years implemented was the mandate in hcr that forced peresonal responsibility otherwise it is russia is the bad guy, pretending they arent implementing a near useless missile shield, calls for defense spending to be vigorous, calls for entitlement cuts but only calls because at the end of the day a f=good portion of Obamas deficits are the republican drug benefit that was unfunded. It's odd they expand and call for cuts...one might think it pandering and the only real agenda is taxcuts for high earners who give big bucks, oh and fear mongering

Gee. I suppose we could always talk about the economy and unemployment...

Musicmystery -> RE: What Would Do If A Top GOP Strategist Predicted Obama Will Win Reelection? (4/28/2012 1:37:52 PM)

You could. And you should.

First you'd need ideas. You've spent the last four years obstructing instead of solving problems.

Really, you should be clobbering Obama. Instead, he's the only game in town.

Gee. I suppose we could always talk about the economy and unemployment...

yes and the plan to eliminate 500k jobs by shuttering GM and Chrysler . See you dont have a zero sum argument. Looking at republican non plans is like a throwback to Hoover cut cut cut We barely avoided a deflationary cycle the whole while the republicans were crying inflation was the risk. if we had further contracted spending we would beso so much worse off. Instead we avoided that by borrowing at basically 0 interest because the right was so wrong

No it's basically the republcan voice of the media. Do you think it doesnt have close connections? Imean they did read the dauily talking points verbatim a few weeks ago and on screen even included the original typo. yeah they lie and fabricate as surely as the DNC does but they are claiming to be a news organization and really they arent. Oh and I didnt tell you I believe i posted the evidence. if you deny fact it's ok but when you are shown facts it isnt be told it's being shown

Musicmystery -> RE: What Would Do If A Top GOP Strategist Predicted Obama Will Win Reelection? (4/28/2012 2:25:30 PM)

The Republican Party HAS no voice except the media.

Or a message. The Democrats aren't much better...but the Republicans not only have gotten just that bad, but also keep going further down that road.

The only question is whether "farther" or "further" is correct in that sentence, since the former refers to distance, but the sentence uses it metaphorically.

That's the GOP's only chance but:

1. As the economy improves, even gradually, it incrementally favors Obama.
2. The voters have the choice of voting against the party that got us in the mess (GOP), or the party that has really not improved it appreciably (Dems).
3. Romney doesn't have much cred in economic fix-itry. His Bain record is open to attack that he made money for himself and stockholders, not creating jobs, and his Olympic Games success was obtained by getting a federal grant. Gingrich showed how to attack Romney effectively on his Bain work.

Back on topic, I'm not sure what's going on. I've read polls that show Obama with a sizable lead, some that show Romney with a slight lead, and everything in between. I'm wondering what Rove's doing here with his prediction - all I can figure is that he might be trying to pressure Romney into hiring him, or else that he legitimately sees a massive Romney defeat and is positioning himself as the one who could have saved Romney and wasn't consulted.

erieangel -> RE: What Would Do If A Top GOP Strategist Predicted Obama Will Win Reelection? (4/28/2012 3:22:47 PM)

Romney: "Let Detroit go bankrupt."

Biden: "Osama bin Liden is dead and GM is alive."

Who would you vote for given those two quotes?

Fellow -> RE: What Would Do If A Top GOP Strategist Predicted Obama Will Win Reelection? (4/28/2012 3:23:20 PM)

Obama has some weak points. Most importantly, his failure to prosecute white collar criminals and massive public wealth transfer to the super-rich. I would hammer this point hard, it resonates with general public well. Romney as a recipient of "special benefits" is not a good candidate, but I guess, it would still work against Obama well.

I got 48 out of 50 as well. I wonder if he used my strategy of accepting the New York Times predictions and making decisions on only the toss up states.

Relax ... it's the warm-up of Karl's campaign of terror aimed at the republicans who'd grown so weary of the neo-con bullshit they otherwise might stay home.
Prediction, on the ramp up to Halloween, Karl is going to put on the scariest Halloween show you've ever seen... Remember, Karl's gone all Hollywood N' Shit.

Ya know... he ain't going to release taxes (no obligation since he's no a public servant) but I if the facts were actually available, I would say that the 'administrative' salary he takes home from Super PAC "American Crossroads" is nothing to sneeze at, and probably a good bit more.
And they haven't been operating in this neck of the woods for peanuts.

Oh, and then there's the 'entertainment' he put out about what? Celebrity Obama?
Forgive me, but I'm having a rough time figuring out how you're calling him a purveyor of "lies and half truths" truths... when his "entertainment company is hiding from taxation as a PAC is clearly only in existence for one purpose. To play video henchman for the GOP.
Sorry to differ but we were starting to head toward a need to throw on the hip waders. And hey, thanks for the new thread idea.[8D]

He's probably right.

But not for the reasons that you hope.

You do know what that successful Bush strategy that he was the architect of was right?

You left out one option....don't care, because honestly I don't.
