I'd bet that if ANY Democratic official had called for the violent overthrow of the government the exact same peoplehere defending this asshole would be calling for treason charges for the liberal..... And anyone with anopen mind, like a swing voter, knows that.

The reason I brought up the Obamanation flag is that this (resembling the flags with pictures of Lennin and Stalin) feed fears that Obama wants to fundementally change the nature of the government to where he has the power to do things like fire executives of private companies and order individuals to buy what he wants them to, oh wait he is already doing this. I am not defending the Green County guy but Obama is pretty far out there. Read the Declaration of Independence andremember that Pariment was elected by a majority.

Tweakabelle that last post was not supposed to be a reply to you I must have clicked the wrong tab.

Spin it which ever way you please, calls for "armed revolution" are sedition. Sedition is a crime and a gravely serious crime at that.

Don't play musical goalposts with me. Laws can be unconstitutional. Your claim was based on the Constitution. Back it up or fold.

Would you hazard a guess as to how many presidents have told different powerful bussiness leaders that they could be in a uniform before sundown and on the front line somewhere before sunup if thus and such did not happen?
You are aware that the fed has trained people to operate any stratigic industry on a moments notice. Remember when the air traffic controllers went on strike? They were replaced immediately with military atc.
This is neither partisan or new...same shit different flies.

Kirata, the constitution does not give anyone the right to overthrow a legally elected government of the United States.

You are not quoting the Constitution.

K.

Why dont you QUOTE the part of the Constitution where it says that individuals can advocate or act to overthrow a legitimate government elected by the MAJORITY of the citizens of the US.

It was the intent of the framers to put the means to overthrow the government in the constitution. And the means to do it is there. Want I should start by quoting the 2nd amendment ?

Neither CNN not MSNBC are covering this only Huffington post and points left so I am beginning to doubt the existance of the editorial.

Yeah tell me how a well regulated militia can overthrow the very government that regulates it.

I'll let ya know if it ever comes to that but what I stated about the framers intent and the constitution is correct.

You're repeating a right wing fantasy. The Founders made their opinion on armed revolt against their government clear during the Whiskey Rebellion.

How much of a chance of success do you think 10,000 armed citizens would have against a company (120 men + 2 officers)of mud marines?

The GOP needs to dissociate itself from this nutcase and ensure he no longer holds any position or even membership of the party immediately. Failure to do so will justify serious questions being asked about the commitment of the GOP to the US Constitution and its values.

Oh really? How odd. I thought the Constitution and its values included freedom of speech.

K.

Then perhaps you will be kind enough to point out specifically where the US Constitution authorises or protects seditious calls for "armed revolution" against the constitutionally elected Government and President. Because I for one am unaware of any such provisions.

Q
The U.S. Constitution, no. The preamble to the Declaration of Independence, absolutely! Read it sometime. The Constitutiin is the supreme law of the land, but in no way, shape, form, or fashion is it the sole document our Republicwas based upon. Indeed, Deleware refused to ratify the Constitution until the 2nd Amendment was added. The initial omission was not due to a lack of imporrance assigned to this right, but rather James Madison and others thought it absurd that that right would ever be questioned. After all, were not the first shots fired at Lexington and Concord fired at redcoats who were on their way to seize arms and ammunition stockpiled for use by the colonial militias?

outhere69 -> RE: GOP Newsletter Calls for Armed Revolution if Obama Re-Elected (5/9/2012 6:10:51 PM)

Folks, the preamble to the Declaration of Independence has no force of law. It may sound good, and is important to the founding of the nation, but it isn't law.

A good thing, too. The system would've collapsed after all the lawsuits alleging infringement of the "pursuit of happiness."

Freedom of speech covers inciting armed insurrection against legally empowered government ?
Really?

Really? Then you should read it sometime. The First and Second Amendments are in part crafted to protect the right of the People to foment a rebellion and to assure they have the means to raise one.

K.

Bullshit.....you do realize that the rebellion this asshole would be "raising" would be against a duly elected government ?
Or did you completley miss the whole failing at the ballot box part ?

They made it clear at the constitutional convention, in the Federalist papers and elsewhere. Do I have do grab all the quotes again ?

The whiskey rebellion was put down by George Washington. If ya wan-a get into a discussion about that and whether the tax was oppressive or not or whether they had representation before the taxation then it would be a whole other discussion. I think the discussion is closer to is Obama and his policies oppressive enough to mount an armed revolt. I would say at this point probably not but if he wins another term and when/if the dollar crashes or the commies invade you libs are going to think the 2nd amendment was a kool idea. A tax revolt might be a kool idea though, and not as far fetched as a commie invasion.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security." - Declaration of Independence, JULY 4, 1776

Forgive me for picking a nit, but no one else seems to have mentioned this, and it think it's worth clarifying that your quote comes from the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution.

Please acquire a history book there is no preamble to the declaration of independence.

That would mean that the u.s. is still part of great britain.

Had you ever read a history book written for someone past the fifth grade you would have heard of the civil war.
Pursuit of happiness for slaves etc.
