Thank you butch for reaffirming your position of slamming all that is not part of your party. Life takes on a certain zest when one has something as constant as you.

The reason I brought up the Obamanation flag is that this (resembling the flags with pictures of Lennin and Stalin) feed fears that Obama wants to fundementally change the nature of the government to where he has the power to do things like fire executives of private companies

The air traffic controlers were completly different they were goverment employees who have signed an agreement not to stike.
Would you hazard a guess as to how many presidents have told different powerful bussiness leaders that they could be in a uniform before sundown and on the front line somewhere before sunup if thus and such did not happen?
You are aware that the fed has trained people to operate any stratigic industry on a moments notice. Remember when the air traffic controllers went on strike? They were replaced immediately with military atc.
This is neither partisan or new...same shit different flies.

GOP Newsletter Calls for Armed Revolution if Obama Re-Elected

quote:

The Greene County, Virginia Republican Committee publishes a monthly newsletter for members called “The Constitutional Conservatives.” The newsletter is heavy on Tea Party rhetoric about how Obama and liberals are ruining America, and so forth. But even by these standards, an item in the March newsletter stands out.

In the “Whitehouse Watchdog” column, editor Ponch McPhee says that American cannot survive four more years under Obama, a “political socialist ideologue” who is “unlike anything world history has ever witnessed or recognized.”

quote:

We have before us a challenge to remove an ideologue unlike anything world history has ever witnessed or recognized.

An individual who has come to power within a Nation which yields it’s strength over the entire world.

An elected leader who shuns biblical praise, handicaps economic ability, disrespects the honor of earned military might.

In the coming days and weeks ~ we the people must come to grasp as a common force, our very soul’s, that our future as a sovereign nation is indeed at risk.

If every single individual that you know, would contact 25 other individuals ~ we can make a difference that will be heard across the Commonwealth and in Washington.

The ultimate task for the people is to remain vigilant and aware ~ that the government, their government is out of control, and this moment, this opportunity, must not be forsaken, must not escape us, for WE SHALL NOT HAVE ANY COURSE BUT ARMED REVOLUTION SHOULD WE FAIL WITH THE POWER OF THE VOTE IN NOVEMBER ~ This Republic cannot survive for 4 more years underneath this political socialist ideologue.

The Greene County GOP apparently realizes that McPhee and the newsletter are a potential liability, judging by the disclaimer on the back page claiming that views expressed are individual only.

As of yet, no other member of the Greene County GOP has denounced their newsletter's editor - so we can only assume that they all agree with him.

So, if the majority of the American voters once again decide to elect Barak Obama President this year - would this justify an "armed revolution" against the will of the majority of the American voters by the minority of the American voters who lost the election??

Please see my earlier post about the Left getting desperate and going over the edge. Case in point. It will get even more desperate as the time draws near. And I don't worry about Obama winning. I fully expect a landslide win for Romney. This latest flip flop by Obama to keep votes he apparently feels he must buy with a new position "evolved" (I like that spin, it fits an MSNBC talking point, not "flip flop" but "evolved", ingenious but transparent to independents and other thinking voters).

DaNewAgeViking -> RE: GOP Newsletter Calls for Armed Revolution if Obama Re-Elected (5/9/2012 8:15:03 PM)

Hmmm... Another good reason to reelect Obama: the Radicals will then be forced to eat their words, which will likely choke them, or make good on this treasonous garbage, in which case we can crush them once and for all. Its a hell of a note, either way.

That's a pretty amazing set of completely unfounded accusations ya got there. Very impressive.

I guess OWS is out then too.

Actually, it is... but under the right circumstances, it's other things too. But mostly what it is, is a growing attempt
Don't be a knucklehead on your first day back WillBe.. there's a number of people here entitled to speak as Occupy people and I don't see one of em so far giving a rat's ass what the the authors of this newsletter have to say. So why not leave OWS out of your bullshit stories?
You want my spin? I think it's fine this guy/these guys demonstrate what hypocrites they are. Or are we going to allege he just publishes this horseshit to himself?

So, someone is calling for revolution? Reminds me of one of my favorite songs...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8zmkzshUvE

Call out the instigators
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now

Lock up the streets and houses
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now

Hand out the arms and ammo
We're going to blast our way through here
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together

---

Of course, if they actually did have a revolution back in those days (as some were calling for back then), it might have changed things for the better in this country - or maybe not. They would have just been fooled again.

On the other hand, a revolution in the USA might be good for the rest of the world, since it would force the recall of all US military personnel from overseas postings to put down domestic upheaval.

I have nothing left to lose except my life, so it might be kind of fun to watch civilization fall. There's been such a high level of complacency in this country, so perhaps a spark or two to shake things up might be just what this country needs.

Why dont you QUOTE the part of the Constitution where it says that individuals can advocate or act to overthrow a legitimate government elected by the MAJORITY of the citizens of the US.

Stop playing word games. Address the case where a majority no longer considers the actions of the government to be legitimate. This notion that the Constitution of the United States bars the People from ridding themselves of an oppressive government is about as bizarre as it gets. And if you want quotes, suppose you start by quoting where it does that.

Take your time.

K.

where did anyone say we were talking about the majority? This is specifically a call for violence if they are the minority

Mupainurpleasure -> RE: GOP Newsletter Calls for Armed Revolution if Obama Re-Elected (5/9/2012 9:01:16 PM)

I think it hilarious the right thinks Obama is far out there yet call iran Contra man the greatest president of thre 20th century. If the bar is the most serious gross disregard of the constitution I guess he make the grade

BamaD -> RE: GOP Newsletter Calls for Armed Revolution if Obama Re-Elected (5/9/2012 9:20:34 PM)

Actually I consider Truman to be our greatest president of the 20th century.

BamaD -> RE: GOP Newsletter Calls for Armed Revolution if Obama Re-Elected (5/9/2012 9:24:33 PM)

At least one member of the committee has denounced this and no one has come out to defend it. The newsletter preface the editorial that this was his opinion not theirs. All of this is stated on left wing blogs such as Huffington post.

Or because they think the disclaimer covers that. By the way have you denounced Bill Maher because one of his guests said that there would be a race war if Obama losses. No? then i guess you agree with that.

Slight difference between saying something "might" happen or calling people to rebel against their government and violate the principles of the nation - I guess you don't really understand that difference, but nevermind...

Btw if you want to denounce Bill Maher, you could just tell the cable company you're cancelling because of him, that's called putting your money where your mouth is.

Then perhaps you will be kind enough to point out specifically where the US Constitution authorises or protects seditious calls for "armed revolution" against the constitutionally elected Government and President. Because I for one am unaware of any such provisions.

Really? Then you should read it sometime. The First and Second Amendments are in part crafted to protect the right of the People to foment a rebellion and to assure they have the means to raise one.

K.

Bullshit.....you do realize that the rebellion this asshole would be "raising" would be against a duly elected government ?
Or did you completley miss the whole failing at the ballot box part ?

It must have been virtually impossible for Kirata to miss that point, mike. I made precisely that point in my last post (post#60). Mr K chose to ignore it. In his response to my post #60, he chose instead to accuse me - rather amusingly - of "moving the goalposts".

It is central to this discussion that the GOP flunky who made the call for "armed revolution" made his sedition conditional on Obama being re-elected. This entire discussion is taking place within a context where the people of the USA will already have decided, by majority vote, to re-elect Obama as President. Therefore any "armed revolution" against a re-elected Obama can only be initiated by a minority. Any talk of a majority of the people rebelling against a re-elected Obama is, and can only be, an impossible fantasy.

However, it is revealing to see precisely how arbitrary and conditional is the commitment Right wing 'law and order' fetishists have for the very laws they demand are imposed rigourously on others. They're all for law'n'order when it benefits them. The second they cease to be the primary beneficiaries, the second that some one else takes the reins of powers they salivate over, their commitment to law'n'order evaporates.
