LadyHibiscus -> Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 9:18:36 AM)

Vague insomniac thought last night... I am not a big profile reader. Someone posts, I respond to their posts. Where they live, their age, their gender, is just not that big a deal to me. If I hear that they have fabulous colour pictures, okay, or if there are lulz to be had, but by and large, I just don't look at them.

Am I in small, perverse minority? Should I have put a comma after "perverse"?

~~in part my lack of profile reading is that I did check someone out whose posts I liked and was *freaked out* at the ick. I try and avoid ick, I have Fetl friends who SHARE, and that sort of thing.

Comma after 'perverse', no.

As for are you in a minority, possibly. I tend to perve profiles of a lot of folks that post here especially if they have a cute avatar.

I don't usually read the profiles of other posters so you are not alone in that respect.

No, a comma wasn't necessary after "perverse". Commas are used to separate the adjectives from each other but there shouldn't be a comma between the adjective and the noun, but most folks won't know or really care.

ashjor911 -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 9:38:54 AM)

I did not at first...

but after some time.. you need to know what the person who you are talking to.. a man or a women.. what their ages.. to know what the right words.. to use

after another some time.. "some people in P & R section" tryied to get so personal & reading my profile & putting thigs from that in the forums.. which did make me crazy mad..[>:]

now.. i have a very very boaring profile in here & i dont get any messages unless people from the forums..[:D]

needlesandpins -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 9:43:42 AM)

i usually don't read profiles. however, if alot of people are making comments about a profile in a thread then i may do. i may also with threads where age may play as a factor in the way they are writing.

other than that i usually won't bother, if i do happen to have been on a profile it's a mistake. my mouse pad is so sensitive that it does things i haven't actually asked it to do.

needles

did you see needles new one....?

fucktoyprincess -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 9:51:22 AM)

I don't generally, unless I've read something they've posted and feel it would help me to understand their position if I understood their age/gender/preferred role/geographic location, etc. to the extent that any of those are not obvious from the post itself.

Oddly, I do not look up poster's profiles for pervy reasons. I look up the profiles because I actually want to know more about them as people. Sort of lame, I guess, but it's a fact.

littlewonder -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 10:19:26 AM)

I never read anyone's profiles. I respond to what is said in the forums and that's it. I have no desire to click on someone's profile, especially newbies, because they usually end up messaging me thinking that I am single and want a relationship because they don't read my profile. They just saw the pic and that I looked at them, so obviously I must be interested in them [8|].

I think I've ended up on more profiles through this than through thinking 'I wonder what this person is like' and deliberately clicking.

(I'm a yes for the comma. It's not necessary, but it's fluid. I like pretty, fluid clauses.)

LaTigresse -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 10:43:44 AM)

I am a sometimes reader.

Often times it for less than flattering (for the person that created the profile) reasons. I read something here and wonder to myself "Is this person REALLY that big of a moron?!?!?"

More rarely, any other reason..........like staving off boredom. Usually it's the moron thing...

I am ambivalent on the comma.

Karmastic -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 11:05:04 AM)

no, i don't think you're weird, i rarely read profiles either. meh, but i'm weird, so maybe you are too [;)]

i kinda make a point of not looking at profiles, because i don't want my interaction with them to be shaded by what i think of them or their profile. i want to interact with them based on their words here, not the words they use to date, or their gender. unless they have a gender identifying type of avatar or pic, half the time i don't even know their gender. i think this consideration outweighs the dubious benefit of trying to form an opinion of them based on their dating approach in relation to how i interact with what they posted on this site of the site.

also, i visit this board site of the site to join in the community discussions, make friends and such, but it kinda creeps me out thinking about perving on someone posting in the forums (distracting, gets in the way).

that said, sometimes i will look at someone's profile who posts here. and sometimes i surf profiles just for fun (but not posters here, more interesting pics).

SoulAlloy -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 11:10:50 AM)

I look at profiles of posters quite often really, sometimes because they've asked a question and I want to see a bit of background, other times I like the personality that shows through and wonder more about them as a person.

I'll admit to looking up intriguing photos too - incidentally I had more people perving my profile to figure out what the moth picture was than any other avvy I've used lol

tj444 -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 11:13:03 AM)

ummm... yes and no.. if some person, usually a dude, posts a whiney complaint or the "need a list of fakes" thing, then yes, reading their profile helps since i can see how long they have been here and what they say, etc.. That tends to have the answers in why the "fakes" find them or why no real female will cam with them or whatever.. lol

Most posters i will only read their profile if they say something interesting about where they live or some reason to put their posts into more context..

But i always have 2 windows open when i post.. one on the other side on a hidden profile and one window here in this profile.. so when i click on someones profile link, its pulled up under my hidden profile so i can perve them without them knowing (& getting the "I saw you looked at my profile" emails)..

I sometimes like looking at pics too, artistic ones (not the gawd awful cock shots)..

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 11:28:14 AM)

Thanks, I just wonder sometimes, and yesterday on Fetl I got into a long convo with some guy on his writings re leather and why he doesnt get it, and after MANY posts it occurred to me that I hadnt bothered to check out a thing about him.

And yes, Karmastic, I am fairly high on the weird spectrum, as are we all. My hinges are distinctly loose. [;)]

ETA: ASH!! Your profile is full of naked girlie pics! NAUGHTY!!

sorry... no cock shot yet [8D]

sexyred1 -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 11:41:06 AM)

I always read profiles. I find people fascinating in what they write and project vs. what they post or send in emails.

For example, I will get emails that are insane and the profile sounds normal, or the other way around, a well written, cool email but the profile is out of a bad porn movie.

MissImmortalPain -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 11:44:29 AM)

I rarely even look at the profiles of people that msg me....even if I end up having a conversation with them. I don't put to much stock in profiles so they don't interest me.

TNDommeK -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 11:44:34 AM)

I never read profiles. I have looked maybe a few times, but have stopped. It probably is a good idea to see who I am in a convo with but I usually only count us regulars.

Occasionally, if I want to see how their self image compares to what they're spouting in here.
