I usually do not read the profiles of posters. I often read their posts thinking they are a Domme and find out they are a sub.

lol! that's surprised me too. maybe some subs see this place as a safe space to try and act out being dom. ha, i'm sure many doms do that anyway (try "act" dom and put on airs, rather than just being themselves, which should be dom anyway).

Rule -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 3:43:34 PM)

I rarely read profiles. I am a very slow reader.

Infrequently I may look at a profile to get an idea about the way the mind of a poster is constructed.

kalikshama -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 5:14:35 PM)

I often read profiles when I am saying something more in depth than "Welcome" in Introductions. I'll also read for Syl's reasons:

quote:

A.) asks for a profile review and I'm bored enough to do it; B) says something that stands out in some way and I want to know more about the person; or C.) the other poster calls attention to something in his/her/zir profile that I need to read for context.

Alecta -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 5:29:39 PM)

I check other posters' profiles when they ask, or when I feel like I need more background to get what they're saying. 80% of the time it's just to see the top summary (gender, age, orientation). Most of the time I'd rather not let those things get in the way of influencing how I feel about the discussions.

I'm a curious soul, and even if I have no interest in responding to a posters post, I will peek.
And if you think you're weird, I almost hate to admit that I will sometimes google the id as well. [:-]

you have mail - a hint from the mystery man.

(I go even further. I can and have found high school records.)

ashjor911 -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 5:52:37 PM)

poise...... you can tell me this ok... did you googled my ass? I mean my code-name?
if you did .... the federal government of bangladesh would kill me as soon as they can get a hand on me.. you dont wanna see me dead ... do you?

RemoteUser -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 5:57:06 PM)

Ron pointed out years ago before certain safeguards went up that Googling your CM name brought up your account including pics. It put out a good scare. Things have changed since then. So fear not, ash. [:)]

DrkJourney -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 6:00:08 PM)

I don't read profile period. On occassion someone will say something that makes me want to learn more about them, that is not a regular thing.

If someone says something interesting on the home page and they don't have a bit c**k in ma face, then I might click on their profile. Problem with that is some people see that you looked at their profile and they think you "want" them....lol

oh well, there are at least two sides to everything...lol

Buzzzz -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 6:10:15 PM)

I rarely reed them. Makes me feel like I am perving , and I am not in the forums to perv . Here because I enjoy it and like the variety of different opinions and sometimes , the drama !!

TheHeretic -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 6:47:24 PM)

Actually read their profiles? No. Click over to get a bit of basic demographic information? Whenever curiousity compels me. Age, location, gender, orientation.

I feel like I'm going to get a much better handle on who a person is, from engaging with them in the forums, than by reading a profile.

Now just perving profiles of assorted hotties who pop up on the other side? Oh hell yeah. [:D]

NuevaVida -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/9/2012 7:09:07 PM)

I hardly ever read profiles. I think the only time I check them is to confirm if someone is as young as I think they are, from what they've posted. That helps put things into context.

peachgirl -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/10/2012 9:11:42 PM)

I love to perve profiles. Cause I'm kinda...perverted.

Also I think it helps put some context into the more serious discussions.

Musicmystery -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/10/2012 9:58:39 PM)

Am I in small, perverse minority? Should I have put a comma after "perverse"?

Use a comma for coordinate adjectives, not for cumulative adjectives.

Can you use an "and" instead? "small and perverse minority"? Yes--so these are coordinate adjectives, and yes, the comma is necessary.

One snowy January morning, however, is cumulative (not "one and snowy and January morning"), so no commas.

Well done.

It's all that edjumacation, Tim! I fuss over using "less" v. "Fewer" as well.

xXLithiumXx -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/10/2012 10:14:02 PM)

Two things:

1) I think Ash looks like that guy from the razor commercials? The one with longer black hair. He's been in several movies, but I can't think of any of them or what his name is.

2) I read profiles from time to time to get a baseline of who the person is...I don't do it often; I am always afraid of someone thinking I am offhandedly interested in them. I also read the ones that someone has drawn attention to, or if they post something stunningly hilarious...something along those lines.

Gnite world!

MistressSennett -> RE: Do You Read Other Posters' Profiles? (5/10/2012 10:22:45 PM)

Profiles are made to be looked at. That way you can see a persons likes dislikes. How many people have wasted time on someone only to find out they would have already known they were not compatible had they read their profile?
I spent sincere and genuine time in filling mine out and that can be respected by reading it.

Fuss less, and you will have fewer worries.
