Try to keep up: the usurper only served two terms after stealing the 2000 election and there's been another election since his second term. We're just coming up to another this year, in fact. Haven't you noticed all of the fuss?

It's a bit surprising any servicemen (serving or retired) are still making excuses for the GOP at this point.

It's damn surprising that any currently serving military officers are still obeying the unlawful orders of their usurper CINC.

Based on the article, standing members of the military seem to prefer the present CinC over the Chickenhawk we had in there for 8 years previously.

In March 2009 Obama met with members of an American Legion Post with whom he discussed his proposal to force private insurance companies to pay (actually reimburse the Veterans Administration) for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. Shortly thereafter, after American Legion members raised hell with their Congressional representatives, Obama dropped his proposal.

Would you happen to have any validation for that?

Interesting. I read the first one hundred replies and didn't see ANY that directly disagreed. mostly the replies reiterated the fact that those in power aren't the ones who have to fight.

Would you mind backing up your assertion with some of those quotes?

If you are not happy with who the electoral college appointed to be president that would seem to be a personal problem.
Just for the record have you ever asked to have a white presidential candidate show you his birth certificate?
I believe there is at least one army officer in the slammer for failure to obey a lawful order. His trial would have been presided over by his peers (read u.s. army officers).
You have not been in the military have you?

Well, this part certainly makes sense: Asked about Obama's handling of his job, 27 percent of veterans approved, and 37 percent disapproved, with the rest undecided.

Bearing in mind that the undecideds go heavily to the challenger...

This would be in "the world according to truckinslave" that the undecided will agree with your moronic post.

Based on my personal and almost daily experience, currently serving members of the military definitely prefer their previous CinC over the FRAUD they now have.

It would be in the world according to long-standing precedence that the overwhelming number/percentage of undecided will side with the challenger.

(My original post should have been 'general,' not necessarily to Hillwilliam)

Listed most replied posts first, then cut a complete block of consecutive posts so as not 'cherry pick'. Also see huge majority of self-identified vets comments against the story.

Ummmm, I'm retired military. Deployed many times. Know lots and lots of other retiree's. None, repeat, none will vote for the current CINC. This is mis-information on the part of Reuters and YAHOO. There are a fair number that supported Dr. Paul but, most are now whole-heartedly supporting Gov... More

This article contradicts itself, if you read all of it. Truly a confused and pointless "space filler" with a misleading headline. Unfortunately we will see many more between now and November.

Can someone explain to me why injured vets have to wait for care? They should be able to walk into ANY hospital or clinic and be treated, period. If illegals can get care at these facilities and pay nothing, why should our have to wait.....

This article is laughable. It is a well known fact that the military is conservative. Now they are pro obama when he is cutting defense and axing jobs in the military? Yeah, I don't think so. Mitt will cut entitlement spending and keep our military robust and strong. Obama is a joke. Just like his... More

Their "usurper" CINC as elected to the position by the majority of the American voters in the last election.

If he is an "usurper" (which he is not), it didn't and still doesn't bother the majority of the American voters and the majority of the American people.

Yeah? All this seems to indicate is that the idea of compromise in the legislature is like science fiction to you.

This flies in the face of what Rush and Beck and FOX claim but it does make sense.

Read it.

Says there is a "Reuters/Ipsos" poll, but fails to link it. All we have are third order interpretations of what "veterans" think, or feel, or might do or might not do (poll writers ->"veterans"->poll interpreters->reporter).

Reuters and AP reporters haven't exactly shined in the "fair and balanced" department of jouralism in the last few years. I would want to read the survey questions and particulars before I placed in credence in anything reported about it.

It's a bit surprising any servicemen (serving or retired) are still making excuses for the GOP at this point.

Being a military retiree myself, I posted the following on another Internet Forum I frequent, made up primarily of military retirees, military veterans, active military and their significant others:
quote:

One thing I have noticed in this discussion and in others, are the following assumptions (which I believe, from my own experience, are false):

... (trimmed)

As for me (27 year Army retiree [6 Active, 21 Reserves]), I find all four assumptions false and find myself angry with those who believe them to be true.

... (trimmed)

Some of the responses:
quote:

As a veteran of two branches of service and three theaters of combat I find all four assumptions to be absurd in the extreme.
quote:

I firmly disagree with those fallacies. I'm a gun-toting liberal and six-year Army vet and Infantryman.
quote:

Sad that ANYBODY thinks people in service won't shoot at them. Maybe 10% won't be convinced you are not an enemy of America.
quote:

Trying to paint "Vet's" as always conservative, is just another example of civilians' complete lack of understanding of "Vet's" and their unique perspectives.
quote:

And when the stuff hits the fan or 'the ballon goes up' service members don't much care about politics. They just do the job, protecting their buddies. [even if their politics are wrong ]

Of course all four assumptions are absurd and fallacies. You framed it that way on purpose, to get the results you wanted.

You used absolutest wording ("All", "Any", "extreme Right wing", "the members of the active military"). You set the entire post up to slant the results and give the narrative that you wanted.

See:

quote:

* ASSUMPTION 1: ALL military retirees ...

* ASSUMPTION 2: ALL active duty military members...

* ASSUMPTION 3: ANY military retiree and ANY active duty military member ..

* ASSUMPTION 4: If radicals from the extreme Right were to actually attempt an armed coup against the present government of the United States, the members (a hidden "all" again) of the active military would not fire on them if ordered and would instead join those attempting the armed coup.

Active duty tend to be more conservative than not, by about 60 to 70%. Veterans? More than 50% conservative, but it depends on a lot of things. I'd say just a bit more "conservative" than the average US population.
