Just for fun let's take a look at the technical feasibility of this proposal. "Block Whole IP Addresses" I don't know how much you know about how TCP/IP works, but a partial IP address gets you nowhere (the little blue or black box connected to your computer.) You're packet will get denied by the first router it meets. But blocking is only useful for static IP addresses. As a private individual, if you want to have a static IP addy, you have to pay about $20 extra per month. All I need to get around this restriction is to turn my modem ( the other little black box) for an hour or two and voila! No longer banned. It is possible to block entire, um, "blocks" of IP addresses. That would leave very few people. Block Comcast, RoadRunner and Verizon and who is left? Blocking e-mail addresses? They are free. Switching takes seconds. "Digital Fingerprint." *chokes on laughter* All a digital fingerprint tells you is that it's the same person who set up the account. So, apart from forcing someone to use the same computer and account on that computer every time they want to post something on CM, you gain nothing. OTOH, it means a severe hassle for the users, admins and owners of the site. The only way to get what you want is to spend a metric-crapton of money on dubious solutions to a perceived problem. There are ways to secure the site against fraud, but that would require everyone to give personal financial information to CM, trust that CM is really a secure site and want to have that information associated with there screen name. This is unrealistic. Especially when you consider the fact that some people want precisely the same thing you are complaining about. I suggest that, instead of changing the technology behind the site and instituting a bunch of arbitrary rules, you change your search parameters. Actually, instituting an advanced search algorithm with Boolean mathematics, is quite feasible. Unfortunately very few people know enough Boolean logic to make it usable to the majority of users.
