Greetings A/All well   lets  see  about  profiles  do  you  really  have to fill   one  out?  I   had a good  one  on here  till   i  deleted  by   mistake.....

About  the  profiles  can  you  make them  short  or  dose  it  have to  be  really  long  like  some?

missturbation -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 2:41:08 PM)

Please tell me ur kidding?
If you can't even make small decisions like what to put on a profile - god help you.

BreakMeShakeMe -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 2:44:36 PM)

I have to agree with tears4him.... profiles sometimes give people time to show people what they want to see... not what's really there. I'll glance through them... but not pay attention to them . I would rather talk with them and learn what I need to know...

Badkitty0810 -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 2:46:05 PM)

I am more likely to respond to someone who has taken the time to actually write something in their profile explaining a bit about who they are and what it is they're looking for. Also, I'm more likely to respond to someone who actually posts a pic or who will at the very least be willing to email one.

Tamerofwild1s -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 2:58:23 PM)

I do like reading the profiles myself .... if for nothing else I can assertain alot from what the person wrote in their profile . see hidden underlying meanings to thier thoughts . it can be fun sometimes . other times I roll my eyes and shake my head . some people really too full of themselves. I like well written respectful profiles . elegantly written profiles . or just some humourous ones. who are you really trying to attract if you say nothing at all ..... zero = zero in my book but thats just my humble opinion

BrattyBottomRN -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 2:59:45 PM)

If you write me an email and you don't have a decent enough profile, I 99% of the time will not write you back.  Just write a little SOMETHING about yourself and what you're into, why you're here, what ya looking for and what you're NOT looking for.  IMO, if you can't take the time to do this tiny thing, you're not worth my time talking to.

Just one bratty sub's opinion.

Personal preference I am sure, but think of it as a used car ad, would you buy a car without some description? Similarly, if you don't offer any information, it will be hard for anyone to take an interest in you.

zumala -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 5:51:26 PM)

Okay...

I agree with most of what's been said here so far.  A profile is about you.  Who you are and what you are and are not looking for.  I also am less likely to respond to a message if I go to the profile and there is nothing or next to nothing there.  Your profile can be your first impression. It deserves a little time and effort, although it doesn't necessarily have to be a literary masterpiece.

As for how to make a profile...  Go to the homepage and look at the menu on the top left.  Edit profile.  You're on your own after that.

Tamerofwild1s -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 8:01:19 PM)

I gotta agree here ... these ads give us the first impression of who we are talking too .. more then just a descriptive I am 215lbs and 6'01" ..... I want to know when I am looking at a profile a little something something . I don't need a whole life history but something to start the conversation would be nice . like bratty here . she is from Lincoln Park . I used to date a girl down there when I was 16 and I now she has a Master .. so know to approach her with respect .. or not approach her depending if I am looking to chat . or if I'm looking for a soul mate.

Well for starters - it's good for people to know if you're a dom, sub, switch and what you're seeking. Now, if you're a dom - well - ahem perhaps learning how to make a decision would be a good start. LOL - sorry - couldn't resist.

Tangwystal -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 10:44:19 PM)

I have found that the majority of "Doms" that I have talked to who have not filled out their profiles have been posers, fakes, whatever you want to call them. I now do not respond to anyone who has not taken the time to put something in thier profile past telling them just that.

Brosco -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 11:41:17 PM)

WOW - What a very interesting thread!  I have only been here a short while and have the impression that a good number of active posters here are not only reallife, but also don't even believe that there can be any form of 'real' relationship online - then I find this thread about using online profiles to promote ones self to find a partner.  I have never been to a munch where there was a bulliten board to post the profiles of the attendees.

I have no idea what is in my profile - I am sure I filled in some basic stuff when I joined, but other than that, nothing.  To some, that appears to make me shallow and not worth responding to - so be it.

Online, I have found that profiles present the authors perception of themselves, and may be far from reality.  To me it is very easy, if I want to get to know someone better, their profile is not the best place to go.  I look at the other posts made by the person, and not only does that build a better picture of values, tastes and beliefs - but, over time. will show inconsistancies if they exist.  A person would have to make one heck of a solo post for me to want to get to know them better from just that.

Hmmm.... I wonder where RS is cause this one is going to leave a mark!

MasterKalif -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 11:53:08 PM)

I have to agree with most on here about that....maybe you want to start simple, as to what you seek and what you are like....that is essential, I think. In any case, many people have "elaborate" and detailed info on their profiles, but what good does it do if they dont reply to people's messages even if to say "no thanks"? Just keep that in perspective.

Tangwystal -> RE: Profiles (6/6/2006 11:55:22 PM)

Ah, but you are assuming that any of these people actually post to the forums.. It boils down to how many times you are willing to get burned before you stop playing with the matches.
