Yes. I also asked him how far along he was.

What was he going to do, bust me for sarcasm?

I've offered a coffee or water to one. I've offered to buy one a sandwich or something to eat when I saw him having to suffer a long day having to stand in sweltering heat, not being able to leave because he had to help secure a town from looting after a hurricane had hit.

I avoid the police whenever possible. Though if I had a doughnut, and a cop, I would share.

They always know that my office has coffee, Cold bottled water and a bathroom.

One day, though, they were running radar out of the parking lot and I had a dozen donuts so............

At my last job I worked with the sheriff's office everyday and we always had donuts or some kind of pastries or baked goods or bagels in the office in the mornings. I always invited the sheriffs' to whatever we had on the back table. Others always knew they were more than welcome to come in anytime and help themselves. I kinda liked having them around. They were great guys for the most part.

Yes. Having worked in a breakfast restaurant all through high school and college, I've offered many cops many things.

I have 2 family members in law enforcement. So yes I have offered donuts to them. But not when they were on duty!

Yes, but they weren't strangers.

I had an elaborate coffee bar in my recording studio. I had those Bunn coffee makers, custom roasted to order beans and a big brass commercial grade espresso machine. It also had snacks, including donuts. I was involved in sponsoring some local programs like Cops for Kids because I was friends with a lot of the local cops. They knew they could stop in at the studio if the front doors were open and the parking lot empty. I had the best coffee in town and they visited often.

Some of the cops were musicians and had a wedding band that played weekend gigs. I used loan them PA gear for free.

As a matter of fact, I have. I got pulled over one morning on the way to work, and I happened to have a dozen donuts that I was taking to work w me. The cop walks up to my window, giving me the tough guy schtick (I live in a small suburb, no need for that really). Finally, I say "Officer, would it help you feel better if I offered you a donut" and I held up my box for him to see. He lost his composure and started laughing. Needless to say, I got out of the ticket.

If this is related to fatness - I did once bellow at a cop to stop chasing a skinny teenager who'd nicked something at the local shopping precinct. The man must have been carrying at least fifty percent beyond his healthy weight. Disgraceful, really, for a cop. Still, he looked seriously in danger of a coronary.

Even though we have quite a few friends in various branches of law enforcement I do not believe I have ever offered one a doughnut.

Other food items, beverages, alcohol and otherwise. Offered to hold one's urinal of beer so he could better take a shot in a pool tournament.

Generic Dude just reminded me of the time I offered the local SWAT team hummus when they invaded the house I was socializing at.

Only one I know though. He told me if he ever pulled me over and thought I had some porch on me he was gonna make me dance, or suck his dick, or both.

Whatevah, he took the donut.
