I brought homemade muffins to the local police station before.
I'm sure they did the initial "look her over" to determine whether I was
likely to have laced them with drugs, but all I noticed was a smile of gratitude.

No donuts for you!

I can live with that..

the real question is... have you ever thinked about giving some donuts for the fire department..
in my opinion.. they are the heros.. where they would literally go into a building where everybody else (even police) go out of it.. the real heros.. stay in & check everything is ok.. before they go.. & dont ask for thank you..

the real thanks they got is the satisfaction from saving a life.. sometimes.. just saving the nature.. some times.. saving lives from the wild nature..

hausboy... go to your trip my friend.... have a good time... & come back... come back safe..
you will be always a hero.... at least in my eyes..

for other lost heros..

Now that I think about it I don't know any fire persons very well. Mostly law enforcement and a few that work for the JC ambulance.

Right now I am working on honouring a young hero I know personally. Please see my recent post in the Politics and Religioun section. A young man that will be dead in just a few years. A young man not married even 5 years yet. A young man who's two adorable children will not even remember him, except for stories, photos and videos, when they are adults.

M's birthday fell on the night when his band played their first gig. I offered the cop and the money taker at the door a homemade-from-scratch-chocolate-chocolate cupcake, but they declined. Their loss

I voted are you fuckin NUTS because this was not a donut and I may have misunderstood the spirit of the question.

M and I did bring a case of water to the Verizon picket line when they were on strike last year. Our friend, a Verizon employee, and her husband brought food and water to Occupy Boston later in the year.

I used the Joy of Cooking's Devil's Food Cake Cockaigne with Quick Chocolate Butter Icing - lots of work, but discerning palates appreciated it!

Same cop I offered donute to was running radar again in my parking lot sunday when I went to get the paper on my way to go fishing.

I pulled up beside the squad car, grabbed the flyrod out of the back seat, showed it to him and yelled "Park that fuckin' thing and let's go fishing".

Based on the puppydog eyed helpless look I got in return, I think I just MIGHT be a Sadist.
