I feel the issue of smoking marijuana when one was younger is no longer considered the political liability that it used to be. Times change. So I do not think this issue will affect Obama's support very much at all.

I do think if someone admitted to currently using marijuana regularly that it would be considered a major political liability (even if the person was using it for medicinal purposes). I'm not sure we are quite there yet as a society to find a current drug dependency an acceptable thing for a sitting President.

So, I don't think people care anymore about whether someone happened to have experimented with drugs when they were younger, provided that they are no longer using them now.

How is it a "radical cheap shot," DNAV? We knew he had been a pothead in high school. Now we have some good stories to flesh it out. This is hardly some speculative, and unconfirmed bit of opposition research. The source is a biography of a sitting President of the United States who has freely admitted to his earlier drug use. I'm not surprised to see that some contributors to the discussion lack the capacity to raise their snouts higher than the talking-point emails of the day from the "truth team," but this would be of interest, and a fair target for humor and satire, regardless of the election cycle.

As a supporter of drug legalization, that you can go from gobbling up pot smoke around the roof light in a van, to the White House, is a story I'm not about to leave out.

I totally agree with you. Both John Boehner and Paul Ryan, and even that ankle biter Kanter should just leave the country in self-imposed exile for their disturbingly unpatriotic behavior during their terms (if you really wanna make the reach and call em that) of office.
I really appreciate your posting that it's admirable that you can put party loyalties aside in favor of the greater good.

The Theater that led to downgrading our credit rating was not only epic failure--it was horrendous neglect of duty and responsibility.

I hope voters hand the lot of them their walking papers.

Then they top it off by increasing defense spending to buy things the military doesn't even want.

How anyone can defend this shit is amazing.

Frankly, I think Democrats are doing a mediocre job at best. But I keep supporting them because everyday Republicans get even more batshit crazy.

Where are the Republicans from the 70s? Bring those guys back, and I'll start voting for some of them again.

It's really more about HONESTY at the heart of this. Cause see, you wouldn't be able to attack the president and his supporters without he having first recounted that it happened along with reflections about changing. Whereas Romney ACTUALLY COMMITTED an act of violence most middle class people would at least have to go to juvenile court for and probably get a record. AND where if determined to be aggravated, could result in hate crime prosecution (I mean as opposed to a pushing incident in a grade school where a MANDATORY TRIP TO THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE is in order, and maybe a call to the parents involved).
And THE MOST significant detail of all is ROMNEY IS STILL IN DENIAL ABOUT IT, claiming not to even remember it ...
... BULLSHIT....
...and that the President's so-called 'skeleton' IS IN HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY.
SHOW ME WHERE THE WILLARD ROMNEY BOOK WHERE IT SAYS "WE HELD A KID WE THOUGHT WAS A FAGGOT AND I TOOK A FEW SHOTS AT SHAVING HIS HEAD, I NEVER PAID ANY DUES AND IF ASKED ABOUT THIS WILL DENY IT".
