Yawn, those who are so blind...

quote:

Iraq's "continu[ing] to aid and harbor other international terrorist organizations," including anti-United States terrorist organizations.
Iraq paid bounty to families of suicide bombers.
The efforts by the Congress and the President to fight terrorists, and those who aided or harbored them.
The authorization by the Constitution and the Congress for the President to fight anti-United States terrorism.
The governments in Turkey, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia feared Saddam and wanted him removed from power.
Citing the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, the resolution reiterated that it should be the policy of the United States to remove the Saddam Hussein regime and promote a democratic replacement.

Isn't "aiding and harboring other international terrorist organizations," the reason for the invasion of Pakistan to kill bin Laden? Aren't we still attacking Pakistan and Yemen with drones?

There was is and never will be actual proof of that, it is all part of the falsification so far.

Remember, the UN said no to invasion until after it was already fait accompli.

There is no proof of terrorist organizations by any credible organization, and Tenet briefed W and told him there were no weapons of mass destruction.

This is all part of the propaganda put out by W, absent known facts.

There are no wars without civilian deaths.

I'm not so happy with troops dying either.

I don't mean to trivialize military deaths. Far from.

My overall point is simply that war is devastating. And therefore, should NEVER be engaged in unless deemed absolutely necessary.

Anything short of that makes a mockery of human life - whether military or civilian. And quite frankly, whether patriot or enemy.

But I'm not optimistic about people's ability to live and let live. We seem to be quite bad at that. War, like religion, seems an inevitable part of human existence.

OP, i don't think disingenuous topic titles are a good way to advocate a position. Obama is obviously not engaging a "war on teenagers".

Somewhere ... deep in the archives of the US Patent office is a patent labeled "The Disingenuous Topic" it is there you will find his real name.

I know, I was tweaking the progressive Obama supporters with the title.

I actually approve of the tactic of killing everyone in the vicinity, frankly if their not already supporters, their sympathizers. If you kill enough of them, eventually they'll figure out that hiding Terrorists is bad for your health, and withdraw support.

thanks for admitting that, i like people who are honest.

i would agree with this, but i don't think they have a choice most of the time. they're caught between the sides. you side with whoever controls your village if you want to live.

it's not like the old days, where we kill enough civs on the other side until they give up (carpet bombing cities, and nukes).

good point. their lives are so ingrained with their religion, holds them back, and so many extremists bastardize their religion and twist it into something evil. they have a long way to go baby, we'll see. the arab spring is the first generation of that. but even that are co-opted by a muslim political parties who practice an odd sort of "democracy".

i think we're both preaching to the choir here :)

Dayum, didn't know those British had automatic machines guns and controlled every morsel of food.

The advantage we had during the Revolutionary war was that it took months to get supplies here, the cost was too high.

You are comparing apples to oranges.

Yeah, and the "only good Injun is a dead Injun", as the saying went in early America when this country pretty much wiped out the native North American tribes. Call it whatever you want, but when anybody except the US engages in it, its called genocide.

Sometimes I really, really hate this country in which I was accidentally born.

Backwards, Moon. It's a thread about all the people who jumped around like they had remote control zapper butt plugs dipped in Tobasco up their asses, about President Bush II's conduct of military operations, but see nothing wrong anywhere with President Obama regularly signing off on execution orders, including such orders against US citizens.

Yeah, I know. That baa-aaad President Bush was so stupid, except for the time he tricked all the Democrats into voting for his war, but the radiant President Obaaa-ma was completely right when he invented the remote control exception to the War Powers Act, and didn't bother with whether Congress liked it or not.

We'll see how they feel about those things, when the power is in Republican hands, somewhere down the road.

Me? I'm good with making war on people who wish to make war on us, and collateral damage comes with the territory. I'm not so good with the President being able to make war against another nation, without Congress getting a say in the matter.
