Must be great leadership there.

Used to be, now struggling. They did have a strong 2011, but it wasn't sustainable.

That's really the bottom line on a lot of these gunslingers today--everybody's about short term fixes, vs. positioning the company for long term success. American companies largely repeat this mistake endlessly, complaining about conditions. Companies with great leadership look for what's coming and not only prepare for it, but bring us into a new age we hadn't seen coming.

Currently, Verizon is trying to get back what it once had. They haven't found a leader who can do that.

They were on a sharp decline until Cingular bought them in 2004.

Is China communist now

Thought it was something else

Regardless, everyone I know who has any common sense uses Verizon

It appears to be #8.

Verizon is more than just cell service. The failure of FiOS could flush billions down the drain.

In sheer numbers, sure. But which would you rather have, number one China Mobile, (sorry the party wont allow that call. And your Internet destination is strictly forbidden)

...Or number eight Verizon

And Mitten`s ripping apart bussiness and profiting from purposely caused bankruptcy that made him so rich........is that "leadership" too?

Do you really want to go there Owner? Your side isn't looking too good in that department.

Tell us what those numbers would have been if mitt`s(McGramps and Sarah`s too)plan to let GM fold had happened?

How many jobs did mitt destroy as a privateer vulture capitalist?

How much worse(more of our money lost) would '08' have been if we had let you cons "privatize" social security?

And what`s mitt`s plan to fix the economy other than much more of what bush and co. did to destroy it?

The answers are going to be at "American For Tax Reform".....[:D]

"American For Tax Reform"?............[sm=rofl.gif]

Restricting this to people you know, I can see that.

However, in the real world, Verizon is running into problems with the upper end of its network, especially data. This has led to surprise charges to smart phone users, including other phones on Verizon's network. Suddenly, not such a good deal, and frankly violating their own service agreements. After all, people get smart phones to use them for data frequently.

It's no wonder their boom dropped to the point they have to lay off people. Their model isn't working well.

Owner59 -> RE: Verizon To Lay Off 1,700 Workers After Paying CEO $22 Million Last Year (6/10/2012 10:16:56 AM)

Yup.....cheating consumers is a "leadership" quality......

Considering how liz thinks.......that makes sense.[:D]

Musicmystery -> RE: Verizon To Lay Off 1,700 Workers After Paying CEO $22 Million Last Year (6/10/2012 10:19:22 AM)

Well they're doing it because they can't actually achieve the volume of traffic needed.

But yes, not what the consumers were promised.

I'd rather have T Mobile or Cingular (the largest in the US) because they both have better coverage here in the mountains and lower rates.

Verizon isn't even premier in the US.

Bsuh & co, and the Dem congress that took over in 06 you mean, right?

Hmm since you want me to predict what would have happened if McStain won and let GM fold...

The unions would have cried... (oops they're crying anyway, it doesn't take much, does it?)
GM would have gone and sold off divisions, and probably would have opened a new plant in China... (oops, they already did that, didn't they? It's enough to make a grown UAW stooge cry)
Mitt would have still had Bill Clinton on his side, not to mention a few other Democrats like that guy from New Jersey... (No not the fat governor)
We'll see next January what Mitt's plans are, be patient.
And best of all, liberals like you would have committed suicide at the thought of caribou Barbie as VP, and one industrial accident away from the big chair.

I'm guessing McCain had Caribou Barbie as the #2 for the same reason Bush I had Quayle................life insurance.
It seems to be a trend the last 25 years or so.

What are you talking about? Verizon is the iPhone's career, speaking of China.

The market already HAS decided. That's the point.

They aren't laying off workers because their business is booming.

So why the far left hissy fit

The market is taking care of the issue
