CNN: Obama Decision To Stop Deporting Young Illegals A "Victory" http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/06/15/cnn_reporter_obama_decision_to_stop_deporting_young_illegals_a_victory.html There you have it.... a CNN "journalist" cheerleading the presidents refusal to do his job as the chief law enforcement officer of the United States Obama swore to uphold the laws of this land, just more of his hollow rhetoric Last I checked, Mr. Obama doesnt have legal enforcement powers. He's to uphold the law the best he can. Of course, interpeting those laws are well within any American's right to a degree (the president being a constitutional scholar would know better than most). Add to the fact that many US Presidents have used signing statements to explain how they will follow a particular law or laws. Former President George W. Bush is believed to have signed over 750 such statements that effected more than 1,100 federal provisions/laws. So before you go raking the President over this.... I recall our same former president imprisoned people without lawyers, family visits, a speedy trial or allowed to look at the evidence gathered against them. These all being clear violations of the US Constitution. Yet, we didnt see to many conservatives oppose this set of actions nor of all the signing statements. So before we bash the president, how about keep things in perspective? What the president has decided on, really doesnt effect me as a US Citizen. So some guy hopped a fence with his four year old child, settled in the USA and hasnt any further problems with the law. I do not see thousands of people going into area police stations on a daily basis reporting they broke the speeding laws and wished for the biggest penalty, do I? Do you? So the kid came illegally. What has the kid done since that time? Stay out of trouble, no criminal record and gotten good grades? Wants to go to college or join the US Military? And after that, become citizens of this great nation of immigrants? The real problem is the 800 pound elephant in the room. No, not talking of the GOP's mascot. But of immigration reform. We as Americans have been pushing it off (granted we had bigger problems at the time). Democrats are not willing to come to a table and try to make a good honest go of things, given the Republican's track record for not compromising on issues. Republicans will not go to the table unless they can get 100% of what they want. So, this thing the president did is just a band-aid on a metaphorical dam that already has more than twenty holes in it. You want to bash the president for doing something on this issue while Congress remains hopelessly gridlock until the start of next year. Mitt Romney, while governor of Massachusetts would have sided with the President in a heartbeat. Not a single person in Vegas would bet against me that the opposite was true. But of course, true to his 'flip-flopping' and 'political slutness', he'll come out against the president's ideas.
