Breaking news - there is one consistent leftist on the planet

Obamas wars by remote control are too much for Carter to stomach

This, while most leftists are still proudly wearing their "Obama 2012" knee pads and guzzling from their ten gallon "Hope And Change" Kool-Aid mugs

Are there any other consistent leftists out there?

Question -- is Romney going to change this, and if so, to what?

"former Missouri Gov. Tim Pawlenty suggested that Mitt Romney would further the practice of using unmanned drones to kill suspected terrorists.

“If you look at what Mitt Romney has said about President Obama’s presiding over our national security and defense posture, obviously his drone strikes and killing Osama bin Laden are positives,” he said. “But they don’t go far enough.”

The Obama Administration publicly acknowledged in May that it was using drones to strike suspected terrorists in Yemen and Pakistan. The New York Times later revealed the President was intimately involved in who is and isn’t targeted by the drone strikes, and controversially defined “militants” as all military-age males in a given strike zone.

Pawlenty said Romney would be even tougher when it came to those types of covert operations.

Does he have to? Only if Romney is a Left Winger.

The question is about consistency of position.

To oppose Obama's use of drones, and yet support Romney's expansion of their use, is damn hypocritical.

Now, if y'all were screaming that Obama isn't going far enough with these drone strikes, then yes, you're a Romney man.

No, Romney doesn't have to stop them. But he also doesn't have to be elected president.

Fuck that, MM.  Much as I hate to admit it, he was our gov in Minnesota, and he left this state in a terrible fiscal mess.

Tim Pawlenty, that is.  I hope to fuckin god that is the VP pick, they will expose him like there is no tomorrow, he'll go down faster than Palin on a bridge to nowhere or Bachmann on a footlong bratwurst.

Its amusing to me, that now 2 former Democrat Presidents are publicly criticising Obama..

I definately agree with Carter about the detaining (jailing) people indefinately simply by claiming they might be a terrorist.. that can be an amazingly wide net ripe for abuse by the govt.. Assange has been labeled a high-tech terrorist by this govt, if the govt gets their hands on him, he will never again see the light of day, he will be "indefinately detained".. It is scary for me to see how fast and far the US has become a police state.. For many Americans tho, they dont see the creeping-in effect so deny the police state exists..

eta- as far as drones go,.. they are coming to the US too, under the guise of being used for surveilance.. and the cop shops are lined up to get them.. not sure if they will be armed (yet) but i expect at some point down the line they will be..

Don't see? They APPLAUDED it, and anyone who opposed the "Patriot" Act was screamed at as if treasonous.

Got any cites for that?
Come to that, you should probably define "leftist" is it seems to have some bizarre personal meaning for you that isn't used by any bastard else. Teh kenyan is a leftist like I'm getting fellated by Alysson Hannigan while typing this.

"Why do you hate America? You're letting the terrorists win."
And then the OP has the barefaced gall to whine about "leftists" being inconsistent...

The terrorists won the moment the over-reaction and theater in response to 9/11 gave Cheney and the Neo-Cons the pretense they needed.

Their work was done, and the Bush administration their greatest friend. Now we're just blinding following the same track.

America really isn't very bright.

Give him time and he'll work his way back there.

Romney's a flip-flopper like that.

Well, I suppose as the Chinese didn't want to play, a new bogeyman had to be manufactured. The invasion of Iraq was pretty much the best advert Al Queda and the rest of the jihad massive could have asked for, really. The antigovernment, rationalist westernised element in Iran (formerly most of the population who weren't mad old farts leftover from the Revolution) went ominously quiet after that, didn't they?

Still, at least we got some good cartoons out of it:

The indefinate detaining thing in the US is relatively new tho, and put forth by Obama.. as with many things with govt, it morphs into more control and more power for govt, with less and less need for justification..

" "The frightening thing here is that the government is claiming the power under the Afghanistan authorization for use of military force as a justification for entering American homes to grab people, indefinitely detain them and not give them a charge or trial," Amash said during hours of House debate."
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57437199/house-passes-defense-bill-approves-indefinite-detention-of-terror-suspects/

"First they came for the Communists but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists but I was not one of them, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews but I was not Jewish so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me."

Which is why I pointed out where the problem originated.

Welcome to the morphing.

My only question is, when was Pawlenty elected the Governor of Missouri?

Lest we forget, Carter let Americans languish in Iran for 444 days, so it's no surprise he's against war, and drone killings. The thing I find most ironic though, he has a hunter killer submarine named after him.

Let? You forgot about the helicopter fiasco?

Here's a news flash. Invading Iran is not a light decision. They aren't Iraq. They put up a very real fight.
