Just now, all hosts on the MSNBC show "The Cycle", proposed that voting be "mandated", that voting be mandatory by law for all U.S. citizens. I'm am not surprised. Mandates are the focus of the Left and socialism. What say you?

The default choice for abstention ~ none of the above ~ is never on the ballot. A "sacred duty" in a free democracy is an absurdity. It is coersion. You might wish to rethink it.

FR Should all American citizens who are elgible to vote be required to by law? No. It would be a ratfuck a costly ratfuck to even try. You have a right to vote and you have a right not vote. It wouldn't make for a better informed populace or more engaged citizens. People cast their votes for all sorts of dumb asses reasons that wouldn't stop it would just bring more he seems like a guy voters into the pool and there's enough of them already.

Is it any wonder why members of a political party that does not want anyone to be able to distinguish citizens and non-citizens are presenting this idea in an election year that may lose them the Presidency? -SD- Edited for clarity

If it was presumed liberals on MSNBC making this suggestion and if what you are suggesting was true wouldn't they be shooting themselves in the foot? Which party do you imagine would benefit the most from the draconian measures a mandate like this would need for it to be implemented?

If they're gonna mandate we vote, I think it should also be mandated that we have a decent fucking choice. Last time we had 2 capable candidates (screw that, ONE capable candidate) was Dole vs Clinton.

If you dont like it, maybe you dont need the perks that go with being a US Citizen? Would be nice to have some system that shows who actually voted and who didnt. I have no problem with someone voting against the canidate that I voted in favor of. I do have a problem with someone that makes up an excuse for not voting, THEN, bitchs for the next so many years until the next election that 'this' or 'that' is not to their liking. I wish such individuals would just be quiet; as they were given a chance to speak their minds with their vote and FAILED! I look at voting for a president like a job hiring. Because THAT is what it is. Should be the optimistic view that the best person gets the job.
