when, who and why, if you wanna share.

Mine was Perot, and looking back, I am not sure that was my finest hour.

Jefferson Davis

2008, Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton.
When it rains it pours. I voted for her first
and then him in the general election.

Thought it was beautiful then still
think it was beautiful. When I voted
for Hilary I felt like a long line of
women who came before me were
in the voting booth with me.

I respected and had faith in both
candidates in 2008 and I respect
and have faith in President Obama
in 2012.
I'm pragmatic when it comes to
presidential politics. The ability to
avert disaster in it's various guises
is the main thing I want in a
president.

Just curious, how can it be?  President Obama has done everything just opposite to his pre-election imago. True faith is a powerful thing.

Forcing you to buy insurance is passing health care now? Wasn't his goal single payer, government controlled health care?

I was excited about Perot until he quit.

It was when Ginrich proposed it and Romney passed it.

What changed? Oh yeah...the R to D....

1984 and I had just turned 18. Ronald Reagan. Little did I know he was starting Alzheimers. He was an enigmatic speaker.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: The last time you were excited about someone running for president was.... (7/8/2012 8:18:41 PM)

He was one helluva speaker, and I think was a great president.

I cried when I voted for him against Jimmy Carter, in 1980. I still think Carter is the best human being to ever have held the office in my lifetime, but, being a great human being was just not enough. Add the fact that I was getting ready to leave for basic at Ft Jackson, and Reagan was the better choice I thought.

BamaD -> RE: The last time you were excited about someone running for president was.... (7/8/2012 8:27:42 PM)

Carter was too nice to be president. I consider Reagen to be the 2nd best president in my lifetime, wasn't old enough to vote for #1 Truman ( I was only 2) or #3 Kennedy. Since his second run it has been the lesserof evils although in some cases the far lesser evil but thats the way it's always been nobdy will agree with you on everything.

Never. I've yet to find anyone running who I feel is competent enough to hold the position.

TheHeretic -> RE: The last time you were excited about someone running for president was.... (7/8/2012 9:39:49 PM)

Rudy Giuliani, back in '08.

BamaD -> RE: The last time you were excited about someone running for president was.... (7/8/2012 9:43:26 PM)

I would have been a lot more enthusiastic about him than about McCain.

I actually liked former President Bill Clinton. Very intelligent, but it was his mood towards the press. It was like he wanted to pick a fight with the media, if nothing more than to give intelligence answers to intelligent questions. He held alot of press conferences to keep the public updated on things going on in the nation's center. Yeah, the whole 'Monica' thing was a bit overblown. The whole charade by the GOP to impeach him for lying to them over getting it on with a young women (to which the Speaker of the House was doing as the same time). Would you lie to protect yourself and family from embarrassment over stuff your not to proud of?

Funny that the same GOP Congress never impreached the next president we had. Cus he got 4,000+ US soldiers killed, 25,000+ US Soldiers with permanent injures, 100,000 Civilians butchered, and wasted $4 Trillion of borrowed money by lying to Congress (not to mention the rest of the country). And did they do anything to him? Course not.....

Reagan's second term. Gas had started flowing again, and my income from military had been increased, where Carter had frozen things. I did not trust republicans after Nixon, so Reagan was kind of a turnaround for me. I have not had a presidential candidate impress me much since. Most of my choices are against the other guy, I run conservative, which tends to be closer to republican, but republican is often also a disappointment.
