The power to tax is the power to destroy, not sure who to give credit to.

The answer to that of course is to subscribe to a lifestyle site in a foreign tax haven.

Here is an interesting propagandist film
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMgOTQ7D_lk

The film makes a number of points, but woe! Wait a minute. Towards the end of the film the narrator begins talking about making non-material progress. Oh, he must be talking about women's rights. I think that contributed a great deal to why the Arab Enlightenment was quashed. Consult the Sleep of Reason thread.

Interesting then, that it was private business that nearly destroyed us in '08'.

I feel what I wrote is telling. We fear becoming an enabler to a thug who is going to kick down our door and order us to stop butt fucking our women.

You'd have to shoot me first.

I don't fear taxes. I just want them applied equally across the board without loopholes, deductions or other ways to avoid paying them. In general, I support a 10% flat tax for individuals and businesses. I don't think the government is entitled to any more of my money than that regardless of how rich I become.

Taxes are a neccessary evil nobody likes to pay them but everyone knows that there are certain things government has to provide like police 'protection', but taxes are often used for social engenering, to push people into doing what the "leaders" want them to do. When taxation becaome wealth reditribition even more object. When it is used to force people to buy something they don't want even more oppose. Remember you get more of what you subsidize, the great society subsidized single parent families so for the last 50 our tax money has been detroying the families of poor people.
