Here is a fun game to play...

How many ongoing organizations that are considered socialism can you name that are alive.. and some thriving... in the US currently... Im curious as to who can get all the correct answers.. and maybe see some surprising ones.

ETA

Those outside of the US borders.. and those within but not US citizens can also play along. I like to see perspectives from others.

Amtrak. Freddie Mac. Fannie Mae. TVA. Is that what you were looking for Taz? corporations or organizations? I thought of those off the top of my head.

they are benevolent and protective societies.  the supreme court is based on social acceptance and consensus.

Maybe the classic definition that I am seeing isnt the right one. Perhaps you can help me out with one that we can use that might better fit what I am trying to get across? Im sure you know what I am referring too. I see very little ihn the US that isnt socialistic in some form, to be honest.

Charitable organizations aren't socialist. Maybe our definitions are different. My def of socialist is "Government owned business or industry". (I know that oversimplifies it but you have to look at a lot of the audience that is lurking in the background and reading this)

My cousin claims all big business in the US are essentially socialized due to government support in the form of subsidies, bailouts, etc., and that only smaller businesses are truly capitalistic.

well, yeah, I hear you but I don't have to give honest consideration to drooling imbeciles.

I am not that socialistic in my nature.

Capitalism seeks a monopoly whether it is govt subsidized or not.

Here is my list...

Social Security
Welfare
Medicare
Religious Charities
Public Education
Law Enforcement
Military
Postal Service
Anyone who took a Financial Bailout
Even Infratsructure

I can see an argument for any organization based upon the above being an organization based upon socialism being valid as well.

You wouldn't say that because said organizations are funded through taxes raised under a capitalist system rather than run through voluntary co-operation in a post capitalist society that disqualifies them as socialist, then?
