I'm a switch, and know a lot of male and female Dominants. I find that men and women do have different dominance styles to some extent, but there's much more variation on an individual level than based on gender. I think reading about both is a good idea, you may find something that resonates for you, or an idea you can make your own.

We, male and female Doms are as different as our sexes , the homes we were raised in. I will say this and I don't know if it really has anything to do with the thread.

When I entered my first BDSM club with my very first sub, I was lucky enough to meet a woman named Jean a female bi Mistress. I offered my sub she accepted and they played. Later on we became friends and discussed handling submissive from two very different points of view. I know I learned a lot and we had a wonderful friendship.

Dominant or submissive is entirely individual regardless of gender it really depends what you personally are looking for individuals vary in kink, personality, belief etc just like any relationship.
