Bottom line, for residents, not tourists at least...you are now in America, We speak English. If you want to stay here and have the benifits of being American, learn the language. I have no problem with folks who spoke Spanish, I speak a bit myself, having grown up in N.Texas. Many Texans can speak both, it's part of our heritage, and something we take very seriously. But if you ever want to see a pissed off Tejano ('fer them what don't know, that is a native Texan, of Mexican descent) watch some immigrant insist on speaking to him in Spanish because he refuses to learn the language of his new home... El Kaboom! y'all will see a wondorus display of four letter words in English, Spanish, Tex-mex Border slang, and a few other etymologies being hurled at the linguistically lazy latino in question. I am a big proponenet of keeping your roots and traditions alive, but if you only wish to speak Spanish, go live in a country where that is the native tongue. If I were to immigrate to Germany, I'd learn German, If I lived in poland, I'd learn Polish, and if I found Myself in France... I'd wonder what I did to get God so pissed off at me! ;-)
