This whole thread, and your defense of Obama is the joke here. Face it, the guy sucks, and even he knows he's in trouble. If only you progressives would see the writing on the wall as well... But alas[8|]

What writing would that be?

Come on, rob, put yourself out there.

Are you saying Romney will be our next elected President ?

slvemike4u -> RE: Obama Campaign "Rattled" (7/27/2012 5:34:10 PM)

Unfortunately, yes. The next POTUS will be Willard Romney starting Jan 20th 2013

Absolutely

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama Campaign "Rattled" (7/27/2012 5:56:28 PM)

Good.. if he is, I will post only good things concerning him and his administration.. and I will post at least once a week.

If he loses, you will do the same for Obama.. posting only good things about his administration and at least once a week.

The wager is for a year.

I prefer cash, or something useful, but I accept your terms... It's a bet.

There is no "misunderstanding," Tazzy. There was no gaffe. There is no "out of context," no matter how much Jon Stewart, and Owner59, and Mnottertail, repeat the official spin points from the DNC and the Truth Team emails. President Obama really said, "If you have a business, you didn't build that." That's what he meant, and it's what he believes. He expressed disdain for brains, and hard work, and individual initiative.

The Obama campaign should be rattled. They've dumped $100 million on negative ads, to no effect. The man who once ran on "hope and change" will be perfectly happy to rip this country in two to save the one job in the United States he actually gives a shit about - his own - and that is blowing up in his face among the people he was hoping to persuade with it.

Maybe he can pull it off. He's got the advantages of incumbency, a ball-sweat licking media, a little army of hate-filled, gutter-scum advocates who will swallow and repeat any lie that pops up in their inbox, and the race card. Maybe. With the economy moving the wrong direction, unemployment as "low" as it is only because of people dropping off the back, or having their SSDI claim come through, and national confidence leaking away, they are right to be rattled, though.

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama Campaign "Rattled" (7/27/2012 6:43:09 PM)

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.) If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet. The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires. . .

Build what? Read the line before it for the answer. The gaffe was his use of pronouns.... nothing more... the rest he was spot on about.

A species unknown, of course, in the party of Atwater, Rove, Limbaugh, and Coulter. [:)]

And then there's: New Poll Shows Conservative Republicans Increasingly Believe Obama Is Muslim

Agreed.

But, as my Republican brother and I were discussing recently, November is still months--and VP choice and debates and several more job reports--away.

How do you figure that, Lucy? I've been looking at the November election in much the same way I looked at my Seahawks going to the Superbowl, or any of the legalization initiatives I used to volunteer to man the table for.

It sounds to me like you are in some denial about your team fumbling the ball.

Additional bold added to the President's quote.

No, Tazzy. His phrasing was awkward (he's not nearly the orator extemporanously, that he is with a nice comforting script on the screen), but the meaning was clear. You didn't build that.

Those businesses that fail had those same roads and bridges, and internet. Some of the people who are happy to just punch a clock, or reduce their best hope for the future to the $829 a month + food stamps SSI route, might have had the very same teachers Bill Gates did.

It's what he believes, Tazzy.

Lucylastic -> RE: Obama Campaign "Rattled" (7/27/2012 7:54:40 PM)

Nope, I dont believe Ive given my feeelings about his chances much air, just at how little you chaps are talking, unless its to come in calling angry names again.
youve sounded rattled a couple of times...just an observation.

for the record, I hope he wins...... simply because America under the Religious Right, will suffer more than it will under Obama.
There's a lot wrong, there's a lot to fix, there's a long road ahead.. I dont like many of his actions, others I think dont go far enough, others I agree with.
The alternative is nightmarish.
On the other hand, things arent good anywhere much now...
I just hope you dont go that route, for the entire worlds sake

Sanity -> RE: Obama Campaign "Rattled" (7/27/2012 8:13:39 PM)

Not just Republicans though. In a puff peice that at least seems designed to convince the reader that Obama is a devout fundamentalist Christian, an ABC News article noted that

quote:

Nearly one in five Americans incorrectly believes that Obama is a Muslim, according to a poll by the nonpartisan Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life released late last year. The poll found the number surveyed who knew correctly that Obama is Christian actually declined, from 48 percent in March 2009 to 34 percent in August 2010. Forty-three percent of Americans now say they don't know what Obama's religion is at all.
