I've lurked through the profiles studying this site before I jumped in and from what I see you have a bunch of controlling personalities, SAM's, and a general disrespect for others. Yeah I’m a control freak and sure as fuck will control the little bitch in my collar but I am not stupid enough to think I can control anyone else. But it seems, from what I have read, many people sure think they can.

*coughs*...ahem.
I am NOT a control freak.

I am an attention whore.

Why is everyone so upset?

Good question LAM and I don't have an answer either. Perhaps many of the posters are correct; it's simply a product of the current environment. You and I have had totally different perspectives on several subjects, but it's rare that I get angry about a spirited debate. I generally consider people with opposing views on a debatable subject, sparring partners, more so than the enemy. Putting out opposing views is a creative way to learn and view subjects in a completely different light. I actually develop a respect of sorts for those who will stand up and say what they feel, rather than beat around the bush.

But I also see what you are talking about, it seems there are those who will take an opposing view and reply with a vengeance, just for the sake of argument. I regret, that those type of responses will usually only spur further replies with the same magnitude or even an escalated degree of anger..perhaps it's a defensive reaction brought on by some "anger breeds anger" syndrome. I have even caught myself replying "in kind" on occasion, but I will make a concerted effort to regroup and walk away, when I realize that my reply is simply reactionary and not really on target with the subject matter. Certainly we are all entitled to our own opinion, but to simply throw gasoline onto a fire makes you wonder if they are actually that full of anger, or if they are just doing so for their own entertainment.

Tonight after being in this thread, one decided to spread some er... cheer.  Atleast it was cheer for everyone in ma car - )  Randomly honking at every car that passed.  Twas fun, especially wondering what their reaction was to it.  lol  One short beep, to several beeps.. to one loooooong beep.  Only matter what the hand decided to do.  Eventually we started acting like jack asses and waved.. smiled.. and you get the point.  Loads of fun.  At first everyone was silent.. and it dawned on one that generally when others honk its a negative thing.. so maybe everyone was thinking this one was being .... something.

tho ppl did start catching on.  How can you not when you've 4 smiling faces waving and honking at you?  LOL eventually ppl honked and waved back - )  We all cheered!

edited to add - so we went out and spread cheer!  LOL Even though we must of looked like we had escaped the loony bin

LMAO!  A couple of my friends and I used to do something similar in highschool.  We'd get in my car, most likely talking a mile a minute.  When we'd get stopped next to someone in traffic we'd all get completely silent, turn and stare at the person while bouncing up and down violently in our seats.  Normally it freaked the other person out pretty bad.  LOL.

MHOO314 -> RE: Why are people so angry and hostile? (6/11/2006 8:30:47 AM)

The world is angry---we are pushed as humans to compete, fight, survive, we are pushed down by groups purported to be better than "we are"---we are bombarded daily with ads that make us seek the "there"--"the ultimate perfection"--we as humans are destined if we do not change to implode---its everywhere.

Some people are just really lame, like Pollux, for instance. He can post links about Angelina Jolie being a Teen Domme, but when the fuck are we ever going to actually see him under her actual leash? It makes me angry just thinking about it.

Nobody is angrier about that than me.

funny you mentioned that.. as it DID feel like a HS experience..  not like one went to HS really.  But, if i had actually went to HS - it sounds like it would of be something i'd of done.  It was fun = )  Me being the oldest, with a very pure and angelic 20 year old in the passenger seat and random short ppl in the back.  They're all very very sane ppl.  Even MY short person is way too sane for my taste.  <sigh>  only one person in the car related to moi and she kept hollaring at me to stop.  She said the horn would get broken or the cops would come.  Of course, her theories were cheerfully tested out.  Which of course just had her hollaring LOUDER.  The brat.  Damn sane brats!  Whats the hell wrong with em, interjecting sanity into my dillusions??  (course that last two sentences is said with humour, sarcasm and warmth)  She NEVER wants to be crazy.  Couldnt even get her to jump in some random lake while taking a walk full clothed!

Lordandmaster -> RE: Why are people so angry and hostile? (6/11/2006 1:21:25 PM)

I know what you're talking about, but usually I don't think people are just doing this to entertain themselves.  Of course there's no way to know the emotional state of someone typing on the other side of a computer screen, but it seems that people really get worked up about some of these subjects--and not just worked up because they're passionate about something, but because they're angry.

I try to keep a level head at all times. I am not always successful, or diplomatic in the process.

I may sometimes have a different opinion about a subject matter, but I do appreciate you, Gauge. So you get my vote of confidence along with those of Level, Wulfchyld and RiotGirl.

There are a number of people on this forum that I appreciate. I prefer to keep silent about that, rather than harrassing them with compliments and admiration and adding them to my list of favourites.

Today  I laughed two or three times, when reading a post, but I keep silent about that as well. So, do know that I appreciate some of your humor that I read, people. I may not comment on it, but it does not go unnoticed.

I have two people on my favourites list, one for her body, the other for her pose and sensuality, but I only very rarely activate their profiles.
I hesitate to put others that I appreciate for their posts and personalities on the list, because I regard that as a vain and empty gesture. Perhaps I should, though.

KennelDeSade2 -> RE: Why are people so angry and hostile? (6/12/2006 2:18:58 AM)

It's not just here, it's everywhere.  My guess why?  Because people feel they are losing what little control they once had over their lives, and scared people are angry people.

Master L@M,

it is the threads you are choosing to read and focus on. There are alot of happy posts and wonderful people posting here.

OedipusRexIt -> RE: Why are people so angry and hostile? (6/12/2006 10:26:48 AM)

Unless I miss my guess, we are now on to complaining about complainers?

I have no complaints.

mnottertail -> RE: Why are people so angry and hostile? (6/12/2006 10:28:22 AM)

LOL,

Then it is cross-posting, we already have a complaints thread going.

I'm hoping it's the full moon......and like the moon, the attitude will wane in time too.

CERCKL -> RE: Why are people so angry and hostile? (6/12/2006 10:31:04 PM)

Oh c'mon Mistoferin...can't you feel the hate? Come over to the dark side...you can join hands with all of us petty lil people, light small fires and blow on them, let monkeys loose to run through the hallways, beat on drums and make fun of others and your own bad grammer and spelling...and when it's all done collapse out on the lawn accomplishing absolutely nothing but the knowledge that you irritated a few people and made a few people smile because they weren't willing to go running through the forums yelling and making funny faces at all the serious folks in their small rooms...

timeoutgurlie -> RE: Why are people so angry and hostile? (6/12/2006 10:35:31 PM)

Maybe it's just an issue of numbers.  More members = more assholes?  It's just a percentage game really.

Feel better?  If not, hmm...wanna play that game where I pretend I'm a [what you enjoy here] and you're the [what you wanna be here]?

In all seriousness though, I think it's just that the site's probably just had a mass amount of new members over time and thus, upped the opportunity for the assholes to reign supreme.

The good news:  As some of us may already know, assholes who are ridden furiously will just fester and fight back but ones treated tenderly will beg for more.

Ok, so this doesn't help to solve the problem of why they do this and what to do about it, but it took your troubled mind to a happy place.
