Its a reporters job to find the truth, yes, how did they not do that in this instance? Wasnt Watergate all about "digging up dirt"? didnt the reporter get some sort of award for that? Would it be better if reporters just did candy coated powder puff stories for the public? Since the politician he works for is wanting to be the President of the US, even tho its not life and death, yes it still does matter because his boss is wanting the highest job in the land and its his job to help him do that, not hinder him, imo.. I personally dont see this as an issue of why not to vote for Romney, people seem to have sooooooo many other issues to not vote for him on anyway.. First, for the purposes of clarification, a note on my use of the word "dirt." I do not regard something like Watergate to be "dirt," I regard it as a serious Constitutional violation. I regard digging for "dirt," to be looking for any human foible, mistake, miscue, etc, and then presenting it as some sort of serious moral failing in order to push some sort of ideological agenda. Now on to my normal exasperated rant... Cripes almighty! First Hill thinks that not wanting to destroy a man's career over a momentary lapse of reason equals wanting to coddle him and now you think that believing that reporters should search for truth and not just dirt equals wanting candy coated puff stories? How do you people make these fantastical leaps? Really? It just baffles me sometimes. I lump it all together as "digging up dirt" cuz someone got dirty with the various "gates" that have gone on over the years.. Reporters look for stories, regardless of what you call them.. and for lack of a better story, this aide foolishly gave them one.. Lucy is right, you seem to be taking this thing more seriously than anyone else.. I dont think its that big a deal, tomorrow will give us fresh new stories and this one will be forgotten.. If I were Romney tho, this aide would have duct tape across his mouth and be carrying the luggage for a while..
