if the CEO ran the register and took orders, then i agree the comedy would be priceless.
but the reality is he doesn't. a minimum wage worker is at the register taking these large water requests.

I could care less about their politics. I don't eat there because Im not particularly fond of the sandwiches.
If I were going to purchase a franchise, they would be at the bottom of my list. It has nothing to do with their politics but I'm not going to pay rent and utilities on a building for 7 days a week and only have an opportunity to make money on it for 6.

Pure Capitalism

Fully agree as a business consideration. Though I do understand the income stream is quite nice, even for 6 days a week.

It would be 14% better if I could sell 7 days. All those people coming out of church have to eat yaknow.

Again, no religious mumbo jumbo, just pure capitalism.

They do it for the same pay every day, may I take your order.  Yes, I would like a chicken sandwich.   Someone makes a chicken sandwich.  I would like a glass of water, someone makes them a glass of water.

Hell, its like a day off they aint even got to expend the effort to punch the register button.

And it pays the same.

Your right, the worker is taking the brunt. But, that's not germane to why the water drinkers are there, now is it?

Then again, there is a darkly comedic value to even that.

The long and short of it-- on 8/1 (the day Mike Huckabee wants Chick-Fil-A supporters to patronize the restaurant) go to Chick-Fil-A. Ask for a large water and nothing else. See if they adhere to Proverbs 25:21 and give it to you. If they do, yay! You took a few cents from their hate fund! If they don't, well...I guess they're proving their principals aren't so "biblical."

If you're in, pass the word on, please. #Proverbs2521

Why would you expect them to give a LARGE water when they could give you a free small cup that you can refill? Oh that's right, because you're a progressive, you not only want a large water for free, but you want the workers of Chik-Fil-A to do all the work and fill it for you.

technically the passage also mentions feeding them, so I want fries with that

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/07/02/1105450/-I-m-Firing-Chick-Fil-A

The WinShape Foundation is Chick-fil-A's charitable arm, created by Chick-fil-A founder and chairman S. Truett Cathy in 1984. WinShape has received a substantial amount of funding from Chick-fil-A: in 2010 alone, WinShape received $8,067,161 from Chick-fil-A Inc. [WinShape 2010, Publicly Available IRS 990 Form via Foundation Center, accessed 6/27/12]

In 2010, WinShape donated $1,974,380 to a number of anti-gay groups:

Marriage & Family Foundation: $1,188,380
Fellowship Of Christian Athletes: $480,000
National Christian Foundation: $247,500
New Mexico Christian Foundation: $54,000
Exodus International: $1,000
Family Research Council: $1,000
Georgia Family Council: $2,500

I encourage you to view the sordid details at Equality Matters to see not only how vile these organizations are, but how closely Chick-Fil-A's charitable arm is linked to a number of them.

Oddly enough, this brew-ha-ha aside, that's exactly why it would have been at the top for Me. I always had a great respect for the man who founded the joint and believed that families should have a day for their beliefs where they could be together.

There are certain occupations where, no, they can't just shut down on Sundays or holidays. Fast food just ain't one of them.

When I worked in a lab, we went 7 days a week. Guess who always volunteered to work Sundays? (Hint) We had 2 Jewish techs. The rest of us always made sure they had Saturday off.
Down at the bottom of the pile, people tend to work together if you let them.

By that metric I'd have to assume any other fast food joint would be a 14% better investment. Is, say, ARBYS better than Chic-fil-A by 14%?

Wow, such words. Sordid. Vile. I can feel the hatred. The stench of tolerance is wafting from my modem.

If you live in the Bible Belt you know what
a pain the ass it is to fight the church crowd
for a seat in any available eating joint on
Sunday after they pour out of church.
They seem to have no problem giving
financial incentives to others to not keep
the Sabbath holy if it means they don't
have to fix lunch or do the dishes.

As far as fast food goes I like CF.
They offer gluten free items, you
can eating lower calories than a
lot of places ,etc. I've never had problems
with the service at our local one.
So it's a bit of a bummer to have to
no longer give them my business.

But that's how it goes. I support marriage
equality and I will not support a company
that shilly shallys with the likes of the
Family Research Council and the like.
And they're so cheerful in their bigotry!
That makes it a lot easier to pass them
by when you're passing through.

I must confess that I haven't eaten Chick-Fil-A in a very long time. Not since I learned this:

S. Truett Cathy, the founder and CEO of Chick-Fil-A, is a devout Southern Baptist and his religious beliefs have a major impact on the company. The company's official corporate purpose states that the business exists "To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A."

I guess they mean a positive experience unless you are homosexual. Then, they want you to have a really negative experience.

But, let's also consider this. At the end of the day, this is a fried chicken sandwich from a fast food chain. With 16 grams of fat and practically a week's worth of sodium, no one, and I really mean NO ONE, should be eating this unhealthy stuff that people push on the public in order to make money.

There are many, many reasons not to eat at Chick-Fil-A. I will just add the latest controversy to the list.

But if the conservatives want to keep eating their 16 grams of fat sandwiches, be my guest. Fast food nation.

They actually don't fry the chicken they put it in a pressure
cooker which on the surface at least seems a little
healthier than deep frying. But I've no doubt
the sandwiches are still loaded with fat and
sodium. Fast food should be avoided for a
host of reasons health just being one of them.
If this strengthens some peoples resolve
to avoid it, that's a good thing.

Only my opinion, but...
what did they think the answer was going to be when they asked an 81 year old Christian man who owns a business that's closed on Sunday for the Sabbath what his beliefs would be? The fact is that he's allowed to have his own personal beliefs - that's what this country's all about. As long as he's not discriminating against people who believe differently (and that's never even been an issue), I'll continue to support them and their right to believe in traditional definitions. I don't have to agree with everything he believes. tolerance, people... SHOULD go in both directions.

Fuck you people. Their chicken is delicious, and I only wish there was a Chick Fil A near me so that I could eat it more.

Many people have wacked belief systems. If I boycotted all their products, I probably would have an empty house and no food to eat.

I had to go and check the Chick Fil A website in response to the comment above. I could neither believe that the chicken sandwich has a week's worth of sodium, nor could I believe that it has ONLY 16 grams of fat.

Here are the stats:
440 calories
16g fat
2g fiber
6g sugar
30g protein
1400 mg sodium

No, it's not a week's worth of sodium. It's a lot, but it's nowhere near dangerous. As for the rest of the nutrition info, I am pleasantly surprised. Shit, all that protein and not too much fat or sugar? It's practically fucking health food!!!
