It was 8.3% in Feb 2009. One month after Obama took office. Don't understand why Obama didn't don his superman cape and bring it down immediately. What the hell was he waiting for?

It reached its 10% peak in November of 2009. Since then it has been in slow but steady decline. Wonder if the financial crash played a role?

And yet no one was complaining in 2008 when the numbers were climbing.

Yes, what he attempts and what he accomplishes are two differerent things.. being blocked by Congress was something he didnt seem prepared for, no plan B or way to deal with that effectively.. If he is able to go direct to voter to lobby Congress then he might get somewhere on some things but that could also be a long drawn out process.. and how effective that is depends on voters being passionate enough on each bill to write letters, email, call, sign petitions, etc to their Congressperson.. so I dont know how well that will work..

Pulling out of those 2 wars, he still needs jobs for those men and women to come back home to..

I agree, more of the same Patriot Act unconstitutional bullshit.. I was gobsmacked when he brought in unlimited detention for whoever they labeled a "terrorist".. that is for non-Americans for now but soon enough they will add Americans to that, its just a matter of time, imo.. some people consider Assange a whistleblower, an activist, journalist.. but Assange was called a terrorist by one of Obama's people.. so call him a terrorist so you can ignore laws and shut the guy up.. regardless about how you feel about him, he is not a true terrorist anymore than any other activist or OWSer is, imo..

I personally see little changing 4 years from now, I think the economy will continue to flounder, resisting recovery... and politically, continued deadlock.. which is why i asked the question of what people expect from Obama's next 4 years.. if they see anything different than i do..

Especially highly leveraged derivatives. Some banks had $45 bet for every $1 of capital in their coffers. And AIG had next to nothing to cover the Credit Insurance Swaps it had sold. Topple, topple, CRASH!

In November it jumped to 12.7 went up to 14.2% at inauguration time, and has not dropped below 15% since, according to your source. If you want the simple visual Mr Obama has not dropped out of purple and red since he was sworn in. Not my favorite colors if you ask me. His calim was that unemployment (I will allow his reference was U3) would not go over 8% if TARP passed. I would expect more misleading promises, I don't expect a wave of truthsaying to sweep Washington DC.

While policies carry through, Most private sector employers hire based on their predictions of need vs profit. They will hesitate or lay off based on their prospective ability or inability to make payroll. Yes, indeed it is the nature of capitalism, long may it wave.

Try 2009. His policies were still in effect until October 2009.
