Musicmystery -> 100% wind, water, solar power possible (8/12/2012 6:40:18 AM)

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=a-path-to-sustainable-energy-by-2030

Save the shortage of a few specialty materials and the political will, WWS could make all energy renewable, near pollution free, and less expensive than coal, nuclear, natural gas, or oil. In automobiles, electric or WWS recharged hydrogen cell cells would virtually eliminate transportation pollution.

If Exxon and the like don`t get a cut........it`ll never happen......

yep look at the tesla tower, totally maintenance free unlimited free power and what did they do to him? the single man who did more for society second only to pastuer.

Coming soon, to a horizon or open space near you...

So Tesla lost. But it's a century later, with more support, more will, more people than one, and less controversial plans.

This thing is doable. It's a when, not if.

Can't help it, Rich, if California takes good ideas and implements them badly.

well... that is dated 2009,... talk is cheap, as they say..

Its not that i disagree that a lot more could be done, but that political will thing is a biggie..

For the record, I dont think 100% wind, solar and water is possible but I think that if you toss fusion into the mix, we can exceed 90.

TheHeretic -> RE: 100% wind, water, solar power possible (8/12/2012 7:25:35 AM)

At least you get past those pretty quickly, Muse.  We went out storm chasing, after the power got knocked out at the house last evening.  One snap from a phone camera doesn't express how many miles of those things we passed through.

You just hit the key. Those who make tens of Billions/year are making a lot of political contributions to see that it does not happen.
Talk is far from cheap. If you want to talk to a congressman or senator, you better have a briefcase full of cash.

Not a problem, Tj.  Nor, apparently, are the dead eagles on the ground around them.

I wonder what all is dead around these?
Is this more aesthetically pleasing than windmills?

they did find a way around some endangered species.. the dead eagles thing not so much.. I am not sure how I feel about the whole thing.. desert is sorta useless without water.. wind is one way to make it productive.. but you also dont want to kill off endangered critters.. even the endangered kangaroo rat is cute..

hate to say that tho cuz its a.. its a.. a.. rat!!! [:D]

I wouldn't know.  All the cat leaves by the door is the tail.  They must be tasty.

California is very strange.. I would see these things in peoples backyards in the city!.. I sure as heck would not buy property near them... I suppose the regular checks coming in make them more palatable...
