Status: offline 		The aggressive not neutered tom got neutered, survived the surgery well, recuperated in my garage in a dog transport cage and I sent him off on his merry way under cover of the darkness last night. He's still lurking outside, scratching at the door and meowing and when I go out he rubs up against my legs... I think he wants to move in or something, my girl dog mothered him while he was still groggy after the surgery and when she sticks her head out of the catflap, he also comes up to her and tarts.

I'm absolutely baffled because this cat was freaking aggressive and attacked my cats, me and my dogs, surely a castration doesn't work that quick on calming him down?

Maybe he wasn't being treated right at the owner's place?

Or maybe the anaesthesia was real nice and he's hoping you'll hook him up with some more?

Status: offline 		Maybe he's realized what side his bread is buttered on. While it's very unlikely to chemically make that fast of a difference, it's possible between the trauma of being trapped, surgeried, rescued from it and well-treated by you and puppers, it may have caused him to bond to you a bit. Hell, he knows he'd have get a much better deal with you than owner. A lot of his previously inappropriate act may remain after castration, as they've become behaviorally ingrained and may never alter, so personally, I would not be inclined to allow him in to possibly terrorize my passive cat or spray around the house. I'd leave him be and ignore him. Sooner or later he'll get the hint.

Should he end up becoming a model feline citizen down the road and you get along, maybe make the owner an offer.

Status: offline 		It's just baffling me I mean we haven't heard any cat fighting lately and I think maybe the anaesthetics are still raging in his system and he's a bit brainwashed, when he came round, he was hissing and very afraid, I just sprayed more Feliway and talked nonsense to him in a very quiet low voice and he calmed down, then Kia's lick attack was something he seemed to really like (unlike my cats who swat her on the nose if she cleans them too vigorously), I think my kitties wouldn't take kindly to a former enemy on their turf, but I feel really sorry for him, I haven't programmed the cat flap to his chip and he stays outside, but we have a small sort of outside cupboard that is built next to the garage, I opened that and put a basket for him there (that's quite a bit away from our cat door and as I said, owner doesn't even have a cat flap and feeds him outside) and I gave him some food (just regular dry food), my cats have been in and out without bother, I went out several times with the dogs, no attack. when I we get in through the back door he tries to get in by hiding under the girlie (doesn't his at the boy but doesn't seem to be all that sure), I'm a bit concerned about the spraying, which is one reason why I don't want to let him into the house, and also he should at least pretend to be still the cat of his crazy owner to avoid her getting another tom (which would again be not neutered), but I can actually touch him now without fearing for life and limb, and doggie girl decided he's her new substitute puppie and nozzles him, which made me very uneasy and worried for her eyes and nose, but no swat, nothing, he made some really odd noises which sound vaguely like a traction engine - must be him purring.

I'm thinking that it was possibly the first time for him that somebody was nice to him, but it seems really unusual that they change that fast, I mean all my pets so far were rescues and usually if they have issues it does take a lot longer for them to get tame. Even my own cats (who come on walks with me and the dogs) don't like to be picked up by me outside and strangers aren't allowed to come near them and they run, I can stroke them outside, but picking up is a big no no.

I've been running the most crazy scenarios in my mind, that maybe a cat who looked like him was at the vet's and I got a case of mistaken identity, but H reminded me that it would be quite a coincidence to have "2 cats who are that extremely fucking ugly and vicious looking" (his words), I don't think they rofie cats...

I decided to call him Greebo because despite his looks, being called Hitler is a bit too much for a cat...

Status: offline 		Fuckety fuck, he just screamed his head off and I went down to look what's wrong, I was presented with a headless mouse, he also had already gutted it...

Ehh, I really don't want a 3rd cat, I was quite tempted to yell "No, go home, I'm the one responsible for your missing testicles..."

WTF happened, I really disliked that cat, he was a complete and utter monster who attacked me, my other half, my cats, my dogs, now he wants to be part of the family...

Well, I did coddle him a bit when he was still dazed from the shots and gave him water and a bit of chicken while I waited for it to get dark, I blame Kia, she was earth mother to him...

I dunno if she'd change that much and females take longer to recuperate, a much more invasive procedure that requires stitches and a few days not jumping. Mind you my old cat had me with that, she was so badly abused she didn't get in heat until she was 3, then I had her done and carried her around, after the stitches came out, she still demanded carrying, so after 2 months I asked the vet how long I have to carry her and she basically had me on...

What's a SOL?

Status: offline 		Feliway is great, used it when we added 1 Doberman to the house and the cats trained her within record time to open cupboards for them so they can get at the cat treats, used it every time we had building work done to the house, cats didn't freak out, 2nd Dobie we used a bit of feliway but by then they were already used to the thought of having dog slaves and were delighted to have one with a tail they can chase...

I think it helped Greebo to calm down and I deliberately spray the back entrance with it, my cats don't seem to be bothered by him sleeping in that odd thing we were sold as a tool shed but is actually the size of a broom cabinet. After removing 2 more gutted mice, I think he is just going to wear me down, now if I would know he won't start marking in the house, I could be persuaded, I could even persuade H to pet him but he wore the oven mitts and little (well not so little) Greebo only hissed at him a little bit and bit the end of the glove (tore a piece out too) so H's vote is for "boot the bugger", maybe I need to spray H with feliway?

Status: offline 		I think if H hadnt used the glove, chances are Greebo would have been ok. GLOVE BIG and BULKY = threat, perhaps... or..try spraying the glove with feliway.
