Certainly never in the US.
It is highly regulated and has been since it became legal.

You seem to have fallen into one of the Religious Right traps referring to "unfettered access to abortion" or "unregulated abortion" when actually there is no such animal.

You say you're pro choice but you find yourself spouting the Anti-Choice talking points.

Reports: Akin Advisers Make Preparations For Withdrawal Tomorrow
Missouri Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin's advisers are making preparations to withdraw from the race Tuesday, GOP operative Richard Grenell and RedState.com editor Erick Erickson report. Grenell cited "GOP sources" in his tweet announcing the withdrawal, which has yet to be confirmed by Akin. Akin has been under fire since saying women have biological defenses to fend off pregnancy after a "legitimate rape."

I did not say it was right...just that the stance is not ignorant. I don't think it too far fetched or ignorant to seriously weigh a life against a reminder and fine some people deciding differently on the issue.

Todd Akin told Sean Hannity on Monday that he will not drop out of the Missouri Senate race, despite pressure from Republican officals.
"I'm announcing today that we're going to stay in," he said. He added that he was aware of Tuesday's 5 PM deadline for him to drop out in order for the state party to replace him on the ballot.

Can you believe this asshole!!!! The scary thing about this is that he will probably be elected!!!!!!!

I'll remove unregulated but you might want to keep it within the US where you could back up your claims. India with over a billion people has a problem with abortion for sex selection of the baby and it's common and accepted by the mainstream. In China with well over a Billion people, same thing. All over the old Soviet States, it is a common method of birth control and people dont think about it twice. Same for Africa in areas where it is accessible.. I'm not saying these people are right or wrong but I pretty much just covered well over half of the world's population and there isn't much of an anti-abortion groundswell there at all.
We in the US like to think that the rest of the world thinks as we do. Not much could be furhter from the truth.

I know you said it was wrong.

His stance though, is ignorant, its beyond ignorant by some degree. No one has a right to tell someone else what to do in these circumstances, especially the situation Akin spoke of. He didnt, as he claims "misspeak" he was quite clear on his view.

I'm probably going to start a new thread on this but for now:

Remove Todd Akin From the House Science Committee

..."First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare... If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

...Someone who believes nonsense like this has no part overseeing science policy.

Tell Speaker Boehner to immediately remove Rep. Akin from the House Science and Technology Committee.

I dont know if you have read this article Kali, Its a mother jones article about Americans United for Life(AUL) Who are behind a lot of these" chipping away at Roe versus Wade to the point of putting out a book called "Defending Life" that is sent to all fed and state legislators.
This is one of their claims
"All told, 92 anti-abortion restrictions were passed throughout the country last year, an all-time record; AUL can claim credit for 24 new laws. So far in 2012, 17* laws promoted by AUL or based on its model legislation have been passed. Invasive vaginal ultrasounds in Virginia? That was AUL's bill. Trying to shut down all the abortion clinics in Kansas? That was AUL, too."

Another one is

" Women's Health Defense Act, emphasizes the potential harm to women, citing the health risks as well as potential "emotional complications" such as depression and anxiety. Arizona passed a version of the bill earlier this year; AUL consulted on a similar law passed in Georgia."

He basically showed that he has NO CLUE about biology or prefers to neglect science in order to force his will on women.

Whenever I am distraught about the incompetence of our own elected officials, I need only look to the Republican party to brighten my day with this simple silver lining: we just don't have that level of malice, stupidity, ignorance and incompetence. Indeed, there's clearly a long distance to the bottom of the barrel. A handful of people have gotten close on occasion, but they have all been evicted from their respective parties in short order.

We actually have a Christian Conservative party, and they're nowhere near this crazy.
