ORIGINAL: Hillwilliam At that time, the person is an adult. what if? what if? what if? As a state rep, is he in a position of authority? "The age of consent in Minnesota is 16. If the actor is in a position of authority, the age of consent is 18." He answered a Craigslist ad. Do you really think the ad said he was a state rep?¹ Do you really think the 17 yr old knew he was a state rep (in a position of authority) by sight? Do I think he was an ass? Yes. I think the 17 yr old was one too (hell, I think anyone who answers an ad on craigslist for no-strings sex is an idiot†). But I highly doubt the 17 yr old even knew who he was, so his position of authority is irrelevant if he didn't know he WAS a position of authority. ¹I'm sure the ad didn't say it but I'd be willing to bet he told the young man who he was. I find the idea of age of consent being lower than 18 for anyone who is over 21 to be disgusting but, I know one state that lowered the age because they had a ridiculous amount of Stat. rape cases brought (in most cases) by parents that involved 18 year old boys and 17 year old girls (rough ages, obviously). I would be willing to bet that his position of "power" was one of his "selling points". †I'd write more but, I need to go remove my ad from craigslist. Peace and comfort, Michael
