Greetings

I am just wondering if there is any other people here who are growing very long hair and if you would like a discussion about it. I am also wondering if any of you are members of any of the long hair forums. I am a member of the Long Hair Community message board and my user name there is Venefica so if any of you that I know from that forum are here then hi.

I have 4 inches ponytail circumference hair that is medium coarse, in straight, dyed black. I am past classic at upper tight length and I have a razor blunt hemline and all is in one layer save Betty Paige bangs. Also if those stats made any sense to you then you are probably a part of one of the long haired communities.

Anyway I just wanted to start a discussion on long hair, what are your haircare routine? How long are your hair? How thick is it and how do you take care of it?

I wish you all well.

Back in the day I used to have hair - long hair.

I would keep twigs in it to help keep people at a distance

Effective too!

Sometimes I would wash it.

I had hair all the way down my back a year ago, funny this thread showed up because I was just beginning to miss it and mourn it.

It was so much fun to play with.

I have hair down to my buttcheeks, but honestly I don't understand a lot of the stuff in your OP.

I wear it this long because that's how my husband likes it. I'm a natural redhead, more copper than auburn. I don't really do anything special with it. I don't dye it - red hair doesn't seem to absorb dye very well anyway - I don't use straighteners or curlers and I rarely even blowdry it. Maybe once in a month. I find the longer it is, the easier it is to dry the ends out if you mess with it too much. Luckily it's naturally pretty smooth and straight. I wash it every day/every other day in mild shampoo (I have dry skin also so I avoid really perfumed or strong stuff in general) and... that's about it.

Mostly I wear it down or in a ponytail, occasionally braids. Or I fasten it up with a single chopstick so I can do the sexy librarian shakedown if the mood takes me.

It never occurred to me that people measure the circumference of their ponytails! I never knew there were long hair communities either, though I suppose there's everything online.

Mine is almost back down to my ass cheeks again, I cut off a bunch for locks of love a year or so ago, but it grows pretty quick, but only to a certain length, then it stops or seems to.
Its naturally dark brown with lots of red/blonde in it, but I dye it as my grey is coming in fast. Always used to be a purple tinge, but now the dye just makes the grey turn red
I use any old shampoo and conditioner, cept once a week I use fructis conditioner. I usually wear it up, braided or in a bun,
No bangs(altho Im considering going with them soon) Its thick and straight but the weight tends to make it look finer than it is

I've been growing out my hair (it was pretty short prior) and it now reaches my nipples. I dye it brown (mostly to cover the grays) but am thinking of reddish mahogany (need to get Master's permission). I wear it mostly in one long braid down my back (Master likes to grab and yank it occasionally) unless I'm going on a job interview, then more often than not it is in a sleek chignon at the base of my skull.

LOL I find that if I wear it in a braid when I go out shopping, I whack people a lot when I turn my head.
so now its just a ponytail.... Ive used it as a "flogger" quite often tho, but it does play my neck up something awful after a few minutes

I have really fine hair, with a kink, so much as I'd love long hair it just looks wrong. When I was pregnant with my last daughter it was just at the top of my waist, but I cut it after she was born and it started to fall out. It's shoulder length now. My two daughters have beautiful, thick, dark, brown hair to their waists. Not fair!

I was worried a lot of mine would fall out after I had my baby but I seemed to do ok. I did have to cut it two or three years ago though after it caught fire and a big chunk was lost. My hair was thick enough that I could have disguised the missing bits when I tied it back, but I couldn't get rid of the smell of burnt hair and had to cut it to chin length.

My strawberry blonde hair is down to the middle of my back, and I have no intention of cutting it anytime soon. I have a dark purple peekaboo on the right side. I use Garnier Fructose Long and Strong shampoo and conditioner. I will towel it dry and do a quick session with the hair dryer, and then let it air dry the rest of the way. I rarely use any other implements even though I have a cupboard full of curling irons, straighteners, crimpers, etc. If I am going out special I might take a straightener to my bangs.

My hair use to be very very straight, and I permed it for years. However, since a spider bite two years age and an allergic reaction that followed, and the subsequent loss of almost half the thickness of my hair, my hair is no longer stick straight! Except for the stupid kinky bangs.

I usually wear it down, but if I am short on time and don't time to wash it, I will throw it into a pinytail - the higher the better. I use to be very good at french braids, but I have seem to have lost the skill for braiding my own. However, I will often braid my girl's hair - it is down to her waistline. I love to do multiple french braids on her while her hair is still wet. We leave them in for a few days and when they come out she has this massive halo around her.

Two years ago i was getting chemo and lost all my hair.

When it started growing in again i tried keeping it short ( ear length). When the Dr said i could color it (it was totally grey), i went with a light brown with a hint of red. That came out similar to my original color.

Now i am letting it grow, just to see what i can do with the different lengths. Today it is a little beyond my shoulders and curls up at the shoulder. It is finally long enough to pull back into a short pony tail, too.

My envy of you all is deep.

I used to have thick hair. I've lost about half of it. It's grown out now, but my hair's maximum length is about to my bra line. It's to my shoulderblades now, and eventually I'll cut it back to shoulder length.

I always wanted waist length hair... :/

Mine is to my butt - and silver! Every so often i see someone else with my hair colour with longer hair and have to say "beautiful hair". My mum is a bit disgusted with me - she thinks long hair is for younger women, and its undignified for me to have long hair. Luckily the men in my life have disagreed.

I wash mine with pantene every day, and moisturize every day. No dye, don't blow dry, condition every day, use argan oil on the ends about every week or so, and use a shampoo that takes out the yellowing stuff from my hair a couple of times a week.

I also confess to cutting out split ends when i get bored or have nothing to do. Is an annoying (to others) habit, but good for my hair.

Interestingly, i get a lot of compliaments from strangers on my hair.

My hair is currently down to my lower back, right above my hipbone.
It's got fire-engine red highlights in the front and platina blond highlights though out. I'm a natural blond. I've got bangs cut diagonally from right to left, starting at about 1 inch in length up to about 8 inches. I've got red feather and red/black striped hair extension in the front, mixed in with my bangs.
I usually wear it in a bun, or a ponytail. Very seldom down.

And I don't tend to wash it with shampoo, or let any other product touch it, more than once a month. 95% of the times that I wash it, it's with nothing but water, and I let it completely air dry on its own.

A lot of people's hair is limited at how long it will grow. It's because hair has a average grow cycle of about 2-6 years. So depending on how long your grow cycle is, and how fast it grows during that cycle, it will stop at a longer or shorter point. The average human terminal length is in between 100-150cm (about 40-60 inches), though for most people, it seems to be less than that because of damaging haircare products, haircuts, or styling.

Yep, Ive found that... plus when it gets to butt length its toooo heavy so I cut a few inches off.
I also never use a blow drier, I bought tongs about six months ago, but havent used it so far

Until a few years ago I had long hair. As a kid it was uber long, hung down to almost my belt. Now, as an adult, I keep it super tight-it's just easier to deal with and, well, frankly I'm not a big fan of the middle aged man with a shrinking hairline and long hair, trying desperately to hang on to some now long gone youth.
