Well it seems the right is going after porn again, it's a safe bet for them, they can preach to their base and make liberals look eveil knowing full well it will go nowhere...

But I was not aware that watching porn is making people in there 20's not able to perform normal sex because all they want to do is masturbate all day long....

" Trueman said youth access to pornography amounted to "a major, major problem," and even caused males in their twenties to develop "porn-induced sexual dysfunction."

"It's the Viagra problem for guys in their 20s," Trueman said. Young males are now spending "10 to 12 years looking at porn on the Internet and masturbating to it, so when they are getting married, they are dysfunctional sexually because their brain maps are changed. They enjoy what they've been doing for 10 to 12 years. Normal sex is not something that gets them excited."

And here is what Willard wants to do, this is from the last time when he lost in the primary ...

"The broader regulation, submitted by Family Research Council president and Louisiana RNC delegate Tony Perkins, also echoes GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's position on the issue during his previous campaign for the White House.

"I wanna make sure that every new computer sold in this country after I'm president has installed on it a filter to block all pornography and that parents can click that filter to make sure their kids don't see that kinda stuff coming in on their computer," Romney said at a campaign stop in Iowa in 2007.

Just a thought or two, on this portion.

I don't really indulge in porn, myself. I'm not saying "never". I'm saying extremely rarely. I have no desire, by-and-large, to restrict access to porn to others but, let's look at that statement ...

How many times, just on these boards, have we experienced people that come to us with a "porn watcher mentality"? Surely, you've seen people post very similar descriptions of people that come on here, ordering all of us to bow down to their awesomeness?

So, while I don't think that porn affects all people that way, I certainly buy a phrase like "porn-induced sexual dysfunction" because it seems to be pretty accurate in some cases.

Certainly, being able to actually obliterate all versions of pornography would be a huge deterent to this happening but doesn't porn come from someone's idea? Doesn't it originate with someone saying: "I should take a picture of/write about/make a video about ____________. It would be HOT!"

So, banning porn would be about as effect at fighting PISD as banning alcohol was at fighting alcoholism.

I would remind you that all political groups have a platform or a mission statement or a code of beliefs.

I think I remember the dems talking about balancing the budget four years ago. Has the current democratic president presented a budget in a while?

Certainly, the budget wouldn't be balanced, anyway. We're nowhere near out of the woods.

So, just because a group has a list of ideals, doesn't mean that those ideals will come to fruition.

Also, there's laughable ideals everywhere, if we look hard enough.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Edited because there's no "P" between the "O" and the "U" in "Should". Damn my stubs!
"platform" also has an "r" before the 'm"; not an "e"

Web browsers and windows already have parental controls than can be activated. It's just a bunch of blowhards preaching to their Bible Beating constiuency..................Or, maybe they're just really fucking ignorant and didnt know that.

Hill, I'm not sure but that might have been Romney "clearing up" a messy previous quote (or back-peddling, I guess someone would call it). I'm not sure but it sounds like that's what it was.

Honestly, I don't know anything about parental controls because they were instituted, for the most part, when I didn't need to worry about them. Plus, I never let my children on the computer, un-supervised, until the youngest was 16 or 17 or so.

Now, if Romney wants to talk about parents not using the TV and the computer and the iphone as electronic babysitters, that (in my mind) would be an interesting shift in the current social climate.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Again, The problem was 'solved' years ago but parents would actually have to read the instruction book that came with the puter or spend 3 seconds googling "parental controls".

The RNC wants to placate its base with some nice 'feel good legislation'. The DNC will try to fight them because..........well, if the Republicans think something is a good idea, we HAVE to vote against it.

In the mean time, we have people out of work, the mid east is going up in flames, the part of the world that doesn't actively detest us is working on long range plans to economically dominate us but Goddamit, PORN on our computers is the most important thing to worry about.

I'm not saying my 16 year old was allowed to peruse sites like this. I'm saying, at that point, I felt he was well informed enough where he wouldn't fall prey to an online predator.

I tried to prepare my children for the world and the world has porn in it. As I pointed out, in my other post; the world will ALWAYS have porn in it. It's a fact of life.

ML, I'm confused. In which sense of the word did you mean I was a "liberal" parent?

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Won't happen for ages, if ever.

Politicians on either side want nothing to do with personal responsibility. Easier to blame it on others. Saying you are a fuck up of a parent and should know what the hell your kids are doing doesn't get votes. Saying that evil music/movie/video game/porn/immigrant/whatever else is responsible, vote for me and I'll fix it does get the votes.

Look, you crazy (does it stand for "mother lover"?), you: I NEVER take offense with you. You and I have disagreed (sometimes dichotically) but I don't think either of us has ever disparaged each other or truly snarked with an intent to offend. We're good, there.

No, I was confused about how you were using the word "liberal". When I was a young scad, "liberal" meant a free-thinker that rejected a lot of the "establishment". Lincoln was a liberal. Kennedy was a liberal. King was a liberal. In that sense of the word, it can only be seen as a compliment.

The word no longer means that, today. It has come to be a description of a certain political bent; one whose ideas I ascribe to, to a small degree.

I just wasn't sure which you were employing.

On a side note: we need to find a way to get a good snark thread going where we can take the gloves off and not get golden love letters. I have some ideas but, probably best shared in a c-mail.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Michael. Wanna bet that the "Gold letter count for PnR" has dropped to about zero in the last 48 hours?

I'm sure it has, based upon a couple of personal attacks, launched at me, that proudly sit -un-moderated - in a couple of other threads.

Report em. You probably do about what I do and generate a ticket every couple of months.
It's the ones who generate hundreds in that amount of time that make the Mods so pissed off at this forum.

The RepubliCON Party has reverted back to old 1950 psudeo studies of what porn does to people.Remember the old if you masturbate you could go blind?I thought the RepubliCONS were the party of less Government. They most likely would love to do away with fetish.I can't understand how someone in this lifestyle can support the Repubicons who would only like to see people who are into this lifestyle sitting in some jail cell.

Nah. I expect no less from the people that I have on ignore.

I have a friend that tells me about some of the more egregious attacks. I just need to appreciate my friend's attempt at helpfulness and continue to leave the offenders in the personal oblivion in which they belong. They need to no longer exist (for me). As evidence of this, please notice my new sig. line.

I continue to inter-act with people who know what respectful debate is. You know this, Hill. Jesus H. Christ on a skateboard! Do you and I agree on much of anything? LOL You always manage to hate the message instead of the messenger. It's why I hold you in such high regard.

I meant every word of my birthday thread message to you.

We got trouble! Right here in River City! Trouble with a capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for porn!

I appreciate your suggestion but with the amount of personal attacks on me, you would get upset by the volume of tickets I create.

Also, while not applying to you, I have found that there's a certain incongruity to how tickets are handled that depends upon whether the offender belongs to a certain clique or not.

So, I will just wait until the offender(s) have "burnt out" on their own but, thank you for your concern.

Peace and comfort,

Michael
