female, two loads lights and darks. i don't have enough to mess about doing seperate loads for everything. not only that but my washer doesn't seem to do a good wash on a half load. i begrudge using the electric and water for a few items on a full wash.

boy does his own washing, and has done since being about 13 when i got fed up of doing it and then finding it screwed up in a ball on the floor unworn.

Husband & wife with two kids.  Both adults do laundry...

Female= separate loads for dark, white, towels/sheets, and each kid.

Male= one mega load that encompasses everything.

Either way, as long as the laundry gets done it's usually all good.  Once in a while the mega load will cause problems.  However, I have to admit, I am often amazed at the things that can be washed together without adverse effect!

This made me chuckle, I am definitely a
"all encompassing mega-load" sort of
laundry person! Heh

1 load. female. all colours. I try to make it a point to not buy clothing that has colour leakage issues (they're also usually the ones that don't require ironing, etc)

What is this ironing you speak of?

Work clothes.
Regular clothes: underwear, socks and tees.
Pants.
Sheets
Towels

Pajamas, nightgowns are done with sheets usually.

Kitchen towels tend to get done haphazardly, sometimes with regular clothes, sometimes with towels. Same for wash cloths.

Now my son's clothes are done: pants/shorts, white cottons, other. This kid owns more undershirts than anybody needs.

I toss everything together, sort of.....I wash the towels, sheets and underpants in hot water, but my everyday clothes get sort of sorted into similar color piles, but if I'm really lazy, they go in together...I wash my clothes in cold water, bras included, no muss, no fuss. My clothes last longer being washed in cold water....I have clothes that are 10 years old and still look great. (something to be said for sticking to classics!)

As for drying my clothes, well, until I started losing weight, I didn't dry my jeans and shirts all the way, but I have to now because they are too big for me once I wear them a second day. I have no idea how people can walk around with the crotch of their pants at their knees....when I wear the pants that are just a wee bit too big start to fall down, it drives me NUTS!!!!! And ironing????!!!! I own one dress tht requires ironing, otherwise, the wrinkles give clotehs character! Since I hang everything up right out of the dryer, ironings not a big thing. in fact, I forgot I even had an iron until I moved!

Fooey I didnt iron tomorrow's dress! Sigh. Early morning ironing for me.

Yes, I will be wrinkly again by the end of the day. We cannot win the war for tidiness.

ETA: my DRESS will be wrinkly. I will be my usual porcelain self!

i wash the towels with the clothes because they seem to help scrub the clothes. Since the towels are colored, i wash them in cold water with the other cold water laundry.

One female though I sometimes do my parents
laundry making three adults.

Different genres. I don't wash towels
or bath cloths with anything that could
have dog or cat hair. Bed linens are
washed separately. Colors and whites
are separate. Things that need a longer
soak are separate. I wash my delicates
by hand except for sports bras.

I wash everything in cold water.
I hang dry everything. I don't
bother with a dryer.
My iron is used for crafts.
I don't ever really need to iron clothes.

My way isnt up there... work, and not work. I wash all our work stuff together with some filler to make a full load when necessary. Then everything else in the other one.

Neither do I, that's why they get a wash
by themselves. Wash cloths seem to attract
cat hair like magnets. And one of my cats
loves clean laundry if I don't put the
towels and bath cloths up immediately
he finds them and makes himself a bed.
The joys of cat ownership.

Two loads a week regularly, usually done on the weekend; extra for the occasional coat/bedding wash. One is usually my stuff and one is the little guy's. He goes through more, faster, but he's also smaller.

I'm anticipating more if my girl is coming up here though! (Waiting now to see if she can find the passport...crossing fingers. If she does it's two weeks up here! If not, it's only one week of me down there. Stupid work obligations.)

I separate laundry by genres and then by color or material.

EX: I wash towels and rags separately from everything else.
I wash jeans separately.
I then separate everything else into whites and colors.
If i t is something delicate then it either gets washed separately on gentle cycle or gets washed by hand.
