There is my and my cousin, whom I care for. She generates a lot of laundry due to spills,etc. All shirts go straight on hangers to be dried. Everything else, except bras, goes into the dryer, but only because there is no where to put a cloths line here. I'd much prefer.

There is an emergency iron in the house, but I couldn't say when I used it last.

Status: offline 		UGH. I can't stand clothes line laundry. I had to do it when I was young and the clothes always came off as stiff and feeling like cardboard. I just put the dryer on different settings depending on what is in it.

Status: offline 		there's been a substantial rise in the price of electricty here. we tend to put the baby's laundry in the dryer or on the porch because this place is a haven for ticks, and the paralysis ticks can be dangerous/fatal to infants. My laundry comes back in relatively soft, except the towels are a bit rough.

i like the smell of laundry that's been hung outside, especially if there's a sweet smelling bush nearby

Status: offline 		My laundry is more "lights" and "darks" than "whites" and "colours" but it doesn't matter much. I try to put bedding and towels together with my lights/darks as appropriate but generally I just stick to two loads if I can help it. My clothes come out clean and as good as ever and I have a lot less stress!

EDIT: Oh, and everything has to go in the dryer. Fuck hanging clothes outside.

About color leakage...

I bought some new pretty panties recently on my trip abroad... HOT HOT HOT PINK with black lace edges. Oh gosh I'm cyoot! So, I decided to wear them one day when I was working out. I love having a lil secret under my clothes. (Who doesn't?) When i got home, I noticed that ... the color had bled ... onto my body.

What should I do?

Status: offline 		BDSM is not just about sex... relieving me of doing chores I hate, like laundry, is also a big part of it.

But sometimes I do have to suck it up and do these things myself. When it comes to laundry I'm a strictly a shove it all in and push the "cold" button kind of guy.

It should be noted that laundry ineptitude is a tried and true method for picking up girls. You go to the laundromat, position your self near a pretty young thing busily sorting her laundry and then proceed to act confounded about what goes with what, what buttons to push, how much fabric softener to use, etc (note to women: men never use fabric softener unless they are gay, or trying to pick up women in the laundromat). If she is kindhearted, the odds are good that it won't be long before she comes over to help you.

See, I mock the mens... there was an old commercial for some laundry product, and some lady from the neighborhood was asking a young man if this was his odd sock. He was all flustered, and she said "well, it LOOKS odd..."

That will be me. Except that I will not be a black lady. But I will be harassing the younguns at the launderette! Yes I will. Then I will offer them cookies.

- Whites
- Color
- Darks (for which I use separate "black" soap to make them not fade as fast)
- Jeans
- Towels
- Sheets and blankets

All separate. The reason the first 3 are separated are because of color fastness, the reason the rest is separated is because I line dry as much as possible, especially things like towels which take a lot of energy to dry in a dryer.

I also make my own laundry detergent for everything but the darks.

Everything gets washed cold, except for the whites. And everything that gets "stiff" feeling from being line dried, such as bedding and towels, gets 10 minutes on "air only" in the dryer to fluff up, after it's completely dry.

We're 4 people 50% of the time, and just 2 the other 50% of the time.

The kids (4 years old and 6 years old) both sort their own laundry for me, as well as putting their own clean laundry away. I do a load a day when the sorting basket gets full, and no more than that, because everything gets hung up to dry and I don't have space to dry multiple loads.

Status: offline 		Line drying outside is the same as inviting every bit of pollen in to aggravate my allergies. Especially dangerous if there's an asthmatic in the house.

I've done it, but then had to still put them in a dryer to get rid of the allergens.
