I'm interested in the connection your drawing
between a persons character and "survival value".

Do you mind elaborating.

It's important to realise this doesn't tie in with any moral code - implicit or otherwise.

Strength of body is obvious. Strength of mind is the willingness to perceive reality as it is, rather than how we would like it to be. Strength of character is about making the tough choices.

There's no intrinsic morality about such ideas. You can be a total cunt but still possess the necessary strength of character to make choices which will provide long-term survival value. It might be more appropriate to call it strength of will.

A simple example is a man who walks away from a bright, vivacious, attractive woman who possesses a self-destructive streak. Strength of mind allows him to perceive it. Strength of character or will is what enables him to walk away knowing that there's ultimately no future in it.

Alternatively, he could fuck her and dump her, but there's no satisfaction in such easy conquests.

Actually, that may not be entirely true. A certain level of self-bullshitting may make for a stronger mind. The research is disputed, though, admittedly. Depressive realism is what it's called.

(Just a fly-by. I'm not sure that it pertains to anyone's argument about anything fundamental here.)

chatterbox24 -> RE: Is financial domination a legitimate form of D/s? (2/11/2013 6:39:48 AM)

My take on how legitimate is financial domination.

If this is an agreement in a LTR, whether it be a monogamous D/s realtionship or poly, then sure its legit. Whatever floats the boat.

Take it out of that context, and the Dom/Domme have multiple pay clients, there is no emotional connection, its a job based on sex. I think it is called prostitution last time I looked it up.

So by your definition if a service sub comes into my home and cleans it. Would I be engaging in prostitution??

Would a woman who goes out on multiple dates, with multiple men who is not in a committed LTR be guilty of prostitution?? After all couldn't it be said that he "paid" for sex via dinner, movies, ect?

Btw... the legal definition of prostitution:

"Prostitution consists of knowingly engaging in or offering to engage in a sexual act for hire. As used in this section "sexual act" means sexual intercourse, cunnilingus, fellatio, masturbation of another, anal intercourse or the causing of penetration to any extent and with any object of the genital or anal opening of another, whether or not there is any emission."

So how is financial domination prostitution if the dom/me doesn't engage in a sexual act for the tribute??
