Alexander1 -> Swept away to an Unknown Island with your Sub/Dom (9/2/2012 10:48:46 AM)

Who finds this an ultimate fantasy: to live on an unknown island with your Dom or Sub with no one knowing where you are. Of course it will be unfair to your dear and near ones but if we ignored this point, would you enjoy it? and for how long?
I think if you know deep inside you the answer to this question, you will have a very good idea about the strength of the relation .

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Swept away to an Unknown Island with your Sub/Dom (9/2/2012 10:54:20 AM)

As long as the island has electricity and decent plumbing, and the reliable delivery of supplies, then I'm in. I don't go to the bathroom outdoors for anyone.
I'd be good for a month, maybe. In fact a regular thing, one month out of every year would be lovely.

I could happily spend all my time with my husband, which I assume is what you are getting at. But I have dreams and ambitions and I like to be busy trying new things and meeting people and learning things, so it could never be a long term thing. Nothing to do with the strength of our relationship, but rather life is too short and too precious to hide yourself away forever. I want to cram in as many experiences as I possibly can.

edit for typo

If she had to depend upon my mighty skills as a hunter and gardener, we'd be dead within the week.

Alexander1 -> RE: Swept away to an Unknown Island with your Sub/Dom (9/2/2012 11:15:45 AM)

Fair enough Athena. All your points are valid and well thought . For me I would like to take a one year vacation from work, internet, the information over flow and the insanity of this world :-)
Provided of course BBQ material and some exotic fruits are not rare commodities.
Very easy to make your own descent plumbing on a beach provided you know how to dig a a 6 inch tunnel from the beach to the sea. :-).

I think the intensity of experience after you come back will make it worth while the time spent there. At least this is my point of view. I believe the strengthening of connection between me and my sub during this time without all the noise and distractions will be worth it. It will very similar to the sensory deprivation experiments conducted by scientists now to understand how will the brain will function without the five senses.

marie2 -> RE: Swept away to an Unknown Island with your Sub/Dom (9/2/2012 11:21:38 AM)

Maybe if there was electricity and internet access...

Alexander1 -> RE: Swept away to an Unknown Island with your Sub/Dom (9/2/2012 11:21:54 AM)

LOL Stephen. Good Point. I think the need is the mother of invention as they say. You will be surprised how our origins as hunters and survivors which is still imprinted in our genes will surface and come into play once needed to survive . At least this is what the anthropologists and biologists are claiming

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Swept away to an Unknown Island with your Sub/Dom (9/2/2012 11:23:43 AM)

I think maybe I am too realistic for this type of thing.

My husband is diabetic. A supply of insulin and refrigeration would be essential. I wouldn't want to be out of reach of emergency medical care for the same reason. Likewise I'd want a supply of reliable birth control because I sure as hell aint giving birth on a beach somewhere. Also, ladies' sanitary supplies and a safe way of disposing of them. Then there's the fact that I'm a redhead and get sunburn from fifteen minutes outdoors in March, so I couldn't really do without sunscreen either.

Lovely idea in theory, but survivalism isn't for me.

Now if we could hole ourselves up in a remote log cabin, then I can see the joy of focusing only on each other.

Delilya -> RE: Swept away to an Unknown Island with your Sub/Dom (9/2/2012 11:37:03 AM)

I don't do the "roughing it" thing very well. It would have to be a very short trip, as in how long my bladder holds out.

graceadieu -> RE: Swept away to an Unknown Island with your Sub/Dom (9/2/2012 12:02:25 PM)

Are we talking forever, or just for a couple weeks? A couple weeks could be a nice vacation, especially if it had a nice sunny tropical lagoon and some kayaks. [:D] But forever? I'd miss my family and friends and books and movies and being able to go places and all that. It would kind of suck after a while. Also, I have medication I have to take every day, so I'd need that shipped to the island.

sort of..

I have my sites on the Turks & Caicos but those are not really unknown islands.. I definately would need internet access, good fast internet.. and the other requirements of civilized living.. so bathroom, water supply, electricity, etc.. and space to grow some of my own food.. nearby sources for other stuff and groceries, etc.. and up high enough to survive those pesky hurricanes in my (hurricane resistant) house.. and an airport not that far away so i could visit other places & when i needed to for business/work reasons.. [:)]

I don't want to derail this thread - there's a discussion about alternatives here: http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=4219383

An utter lie. Hunter gatherers grow up learning the specifics of their environments. Most of our environments are urban, and our genetic history does not teach us which plants have an edible root, or how to trap small game, let alone process it.

Would I like to get away from it all with the object of my desire? Yes, absolutely. I don't even need that much in the way of mod cons, except a clean water supply. I still WANT electricity, heat, and indoor plumbing, and proper food. And books, and yarn.

needlesandpins -> RE: Swept away to an Unknown Island with your Sub/Dom (9/2/2012 12:36:14 PM)

we have a thing about '500acres' we get all mod cons. he lives in one area, i live in another, and we have shared areas. that will do nicely.

That's brilliant, Needles! I'm a big believer in personal space. Of course, I'm capable of doing that in very small areas. My former best friend was on submarines, and he said I had the perfect personality for it.

I've managed to better my deal somewhat.
Initially I was to be a hermit in a cave off to the edge of the "500", but now I believe I may also have an actual room or two in the "manor" at least one with a very large and old open fire I hope.
For respite I shall be building, or shoring up an old boat - in the woods or spinny off to the bottom end of the 500, I have no idea why I have a boat up on sticks in the wood (ancient woodland, by the way) but that's what it shall be.
(beware traps if you intend to visit)
There will be workshop space too.

Personally I shall be retreating completely from the modern world as a productive participant.
I may still wash on occassion.

Lmao... This reminds me of the weekend we spent out at a camp out for the wedding of one of Alandra's cousins. We had my parents fifth wheel, but I sent Kyra to use the outhouse instead of the bathroom in the trailer. To funny.. Of course Kyra didnt think it was funny... Which was why it was so funny. Mmmmmmm..... Outhouse play! A new fetish I am thinking..... And now we are out on an acerage... I can make an outhouse.... Need to get Kyra a shovel! Lol

kiwisub12 -> RE: Swept away to an Unknown Island with your Sub/Dom (9/2/2012 1:23:01 PM)

Oh oh ..... my sweetie and i just came back from two weeks on an island in the tropics. It was great - he scuba dived, i snorkeled, we shopped, drank tequila, had a/c, rode a scooter, ate chocolate and food prepared by someone else. We had no bugs in bed with us, and someone else to make the bed. I read by the beach and watched the waves.

It was perfect for me and him. No roughing it, just the two of us - alone. No kids, no pets, no jobs, no (almost) phone calls, very little tv.

I discovered i could spend two weeks with him and still like and love him. It gives me great hope for our future.[:)]

We also played a bit - but our holiday was about us as total beings, not just the BDSM part.

Very cool[sm=banana.gif][sm=banana.gif][sm=banana.gif]
